We had the good fortune of connecting with Lesley Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lesley, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is the marriage of passion and persistence that shapes the perspective of how hair defines ones identity and exudes confidence. My goal in starting this business was to ensure an atmosphere of creativity for my stylists and an inviting environment of diversity for my clients.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Lady Clipper is Washington DC’s premier, inclusive women-owned and operated barbershop. Within the last two years, my team of women barbers have opened it’s doors to numerous community members, DC artists, and patrons. The Lady Clipper Barbershop was also named Best of DC in 2020. As a business owner, I would say start small and go slow. Entrepreneurship is a journey worth exploring and taking your time to find purpose in your career pursuits.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The person I would like to shout out is Otis Anderson Jr., my former barber, and mentor who encouraged me to go to barber school and lean in on my ability to be a successful barber in this industry.
