We had the good fortune of connecting with Tatiyana Elias and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tatiyana, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose an artistic/creative career because I was and have always been intrigued by colors, textures and shapes. I loved art but I knew I wanted to create art on people. Finding my passion was easy for me because of my creative side so I dove right into my career full force.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m extremely proud of the progress I’ve made since starting over 7 years ago. I only dreamed of working with certain brands and that dream became reality. Was it easy, no it definitely was not! I pushed through and had my mom and sister to support me at my darkest times in my career. Being a freelance artist is difficult but not impossible, as long as you have the patience, hustle and determination, you can make anything happen for you! I would love for the world to know that just because you see other businesses, creatives, or people posting the highlights of their career or life on social media, doesn’t mean you have to compare yourself. You are where you are because you are meant to be there and you just have to go at your own pace as we all have our own journey. I started out not knowing anyone in my line of work, so I decided I have to build up my connections and did what I had to. For the first 3 years I assisted anyone and everyone I could, I took free jobs and jobs that paid little to no money, but my eye was always on the prize. Make sure you remind yourself to always stay focused!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I definitely would take my friends to a museum, it’s probably my favorite thing to do besides working!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A person that deserves a shoutout is my mentor, Natasha Severino. She guided me through a lot and has taught me so much!
