We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor Hoverson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taylor, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think that taking risks and doing what scares us is what makes life worth living. Often I think about the quote, “Life exists outside of your comfort zone.” It resonates with me because inherently I am not a fearless gal, I’m actually quite full of fear but I intuitively know that almost everything I really want, in business and in life, requires me to take a risk. This is especially true when your work is based on creativity – there are an endless amount of clothing brands out there doing things similar to me, but what sets Tangerine Tuesday apart is that it is fueled by my choices and decisions so if I choose what everyone else is doing I would just get lost in the crowd. Choosing to take a risk, for me, is not ever met without an immense amount of resistance, but each time I know I’m going to choose the scarier route anyways so might as well just get on with it.

What should our readers know about your business?
Tangerine Tuesday is an apparel brand that is based on intentionality. The style of clothing is everyday streetwear, but the energy behind it is fueled by spirituality. All my pieces will only ever have positive and authentic displays of real human emotions that we want to continually call in and manifest. I am most proud of the fact that I am creating apparel that gives life to people’s beliefs, personalities, and goals. What I am continually most excited about is that every aspect of this brand is my choice, giving me so much creative freedom. The possibilities of what I can continue to learn and create are endless. Some of the biggest lessons I have learned so far are 1. you do not need to have it all figured out to start 2. you are not going to be a professional when you first begin something, give yourself time to learn 3. people are willing and want to support you, let them. 4. be grateful for the process, that’s the whole point. I want people to know that I genuinely just want to make you feel a little more at home in your body, and if you let me, I want to bring a little more excitement to your life with apparel that resonates with you. I will probably say this for the rest of my life, but me and TT are just getting started.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
fav places to visit/activities: the Huntington Library, Huntington Beach, Malibu, Disneyland, snowboarding in Big Bear, Natural History Museum, Dodger Game, skating/biking along the LA River

fav places to eat/drink: Acai Jungle Cafe, Sage Vegan Bistro, Eagle Rock Italian Bakery, Casa Bianca Pizza Pie, Habitat Coffee, Kumquat Coffee, Leo’s Taco Truck, churros in front of the Target on Eagle Rock Blvd

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to my family, friends, and mentors – you have been so incredibly supportive in more ways than one; coming to my pop-ups, reposting my content, buying my apparel, helping me with photoshoots, listening to my ideas, listening to my meltdowns, answering my many questions, giving me words of encouragement, and most of all, holding my vision to it’s highest potential with me.

More specifically, I would like to dedicate this to my parents – my mom and dad have put me in a position to succeed and done so without even considering spending their energy doing otherwise. To have people that are so sure of me and willing to catch me every time I might stumble is the greatest gift I could ask for and their belief in me makes me feel more loved and embraced than I ever have. Thank you Mom and Dad for always supporting your wild child in my different endeavors, I literally could not do this without you both.
