We had the good fortune of connecting with Taylor (Parish) Brown (Walker) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Taylor (Parish), what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
I think a lot of people are unaware of how much psychology and Social studies play a part in the entertainment industry. The best creators with wide ranges are usually well knowledgeable on the functions of the human mind/emotions and educate themselves on historical facts and theories. No matter what anyone says, even if it’s learning at home from YouTube videos or “hands on, learn as you go,” I believe just like any other job the entertainment industry does require a lot of studying and some form of training if you’re looking to be the best at what you do. You don’t need a degree but you do need to know what’s going on and what you bring to the table.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One lesson I’ve learned through this journey is to always stay true to myself, especially in times of adversity. Strong boundaries and morals are important in this industry so once I came into alignment with myself I quit allowing outside forces to break my foundation. Having many opposers can seem like a loss but happiness/peace is more important than making sure others are in agreement with you. My brand is a catalyst for uplifting women and represents forward thinking people. When it’s all said and done I want the world to know me and my brand for Raw authenticity, Strength, positivity and intelligence.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I’d take them to the happiest place on earth! We would enjoy the Disney California Adventures park first before making our way over to Disneyland where we’d eat the best food, enjoy immersive experiences and buy the cutest souvenirs. During their visit we would hang out at Music Venues, Venice Beach, Newport Beach, TopGolf, get some brunch at The Grove or Broken Yolk Cafe. Visit some farmers markets, wine tasting/sip & paint, museums and art galleries and catch a movie. For good food we could dine in at Bossa Nova, El Pescador get some gyros or stop at the hibachi truck just to name a few. An exciting place everyone should check out in my opinion is the iconic Griffith Observatory.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank God and my mother for giving me life, without them I wouldn’t be the vessel that I am today. An abundance of thank you’s to my Grandmother for being the beautiful spirit that she is you’re one of the biggest reasons why I know love! Thank you always big bro for staying in my corner and riding the waves with me. Thank you to all of my supporters from the bottom of my heart;I see who rides with me and I truly appreciate each and every one of you, we going to the top! Last but not least, thank you to all my collaborators; Not only if you’re were apart of my work but also if you’ve allowed me to feature or contribute to yours. Stay hustling ya’ll we got this! To many more projects, Ashé.
