We had the good fortune of connecting with The Sistuhs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi The Sistuhs, every day, we talk about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
We started our podcast at the height of the pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020. It was just a way for us to digest what was going on and try to find some comedic relief in the midst of such an intense time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Big Sis: I was naturally born an artist. I got my artistic nature from my father. As a make up artist I’ve worked at MAC, I’ve had celebrity clients, I’ve worked on photo shoots and various projects. So beauty is like second nature to me. That’s why we talk about beauty brands & products in addition to sisterhood and Healing.

Lil Sis: Well I work full-time in the nursing industry and I’m also a mom of two so the podcast was the first time I realized my creative side. I’m the social media manager for our Podcast & Apparel pages on IG. I create all of the content and find the pictures. So this quite honestly is my first time realizing I’m artistic.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d show them Venice Beach. Earls on Crenshaw. The Nipsey Mural’s around Leimert Park & Crenshaw specifically the one near the fat burger on Slauson. We’d go to the Fox Hills Mall, the Dulans in Inglewood, Issa Raes restaurant The Hilltop & Simply Wholesome. And we’d probably show them the Dunes apartment in the jungles & the ones we actually grew up in. Neither one of us go out much but we’d probably take them to Johnny pastramis on Adams for a night out lol or maybe hit a club up in Hollywood.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We owe our passion behind our podcast to Black Culture. Black culture is pretty much the catalyst and foundation of all trends. For the most part, as Black creatives and people in general, we don’t get the recognition we deserve so this was our way of saying thank you and keeping our legacy and history alive.
