We had the good fortune of connecting with Thea Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thea, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Ultimately my thought process was that I have to just START. I know what i want success to look like in my life and the only way to get that is to start. Not tomorrow, not later, now. Even when things are scary and I’m not sure how or if it will work out, I know I have to keep pushing to get where I want to be.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I run a mother modeling agency in Los Angeles, Ca, TNT Model Management. This business was started in the middle of the pandemic with my best friend and now business partner Taylor McDaniel. We pride ourselves in being an all inclusive female led modeling agency ran by two African American women.

The fashion and modeling industry can be a tough place so we started this company with the vision to be different. We provide a different, more inclusive and personal experience for each model within our agency. We run our business with our core values in mind for every decision we make: Authenticity, Community, Creativity , Opportunity, Quality.

Throughout this process we have definitely had bumps in the road but we know that comes with the territory of owning and running a business. We push forward because we know the result of that means we change the lives of so many models and for our business.

I’m honestly so proud of where we are today and our resilience. We started this business with 7 signed models, doing photoshoots in the spare room in my house. Fast forward to now having 20+ current signed models and 30+ signed in our history. We have been able to do more brand work, most recently getting our models in a campaign for colour pop cosmetics.

A major lesson that I’ve learned along this journey is to remain calm and that everything will always work out the way it is meant to. God has a plan for everything and as long as I continue to work hard everything will work out the way it is meant to.

I want the world to know that this is just the beginning of TNT Model Management and we plan to change the future and lives of so many people around us. We are just getting started.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start by making sure we have a nice car to ride in for the weekend. Then we would head down to Palm Springs to go get treatments at a spa and have brunch and mimosas and then head back to LA area to go shopping in Beverly Hills. Then we would end the night at BOA steakhouse in Santa Monica with a cute night walk around the area afterwards and possibly drinks at a bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a special shout-out to my family. Without my family I wouldn’t be the women I am today. I am supported by my amazing boyfriend, son, mother, mother in law, my business partner and best friend, and all of my amazing huge family & friends.
