We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Sharp and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always had a deep love for film and storytelling. I get so lost in these worlds being created and it made me feel so connected when the rest of the world felt so far away. Acting and writing sort of became an escape for me into the most beautiful places where I finally felt seen and I wanted to offer that feeling to others as well! I want people to know that they are not alone. There are stories out there like yours. And if I can offer someone an escape when the world just feels like too much, I absolutely want to and will do that!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart is that I come into this world of entertainment as authentic as possible. The industry is so full of people who are in it for the money but what I write comes from a very honest place. It has become my therapy in a sense. A way for me to put it all out there. I had to overcome a lot of personal push-back to write these stories because of the fact that they can get very personal which leads me to ask “am I ready for the world to know this about me?”. But the answer has become – yes! I want the world to see this, see me and hopefully let people know there is someone they can relate to. As far as acting goes, it hasn’t been an easy road. I started when I was 12 years old and only now, as a 24 year old, do I feel like I’m finally moving forward. There was a lot of self doubt and questioning if this is right for me. Should I keep going? Should I find another career? But this – acting, writing, creating – is my passion. It’s what fuels me and makes me feel whole, so I will never give up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would of course have to do the tourist-y things; go to Hollywood, Griffith, etc. Then I would love to do a drive up the coast, stopping at beaches and enjoying the ride. I would take them to my favorite cafe currently, Beachwood Cafe, and head up to the park in the hills as well as stop by my favorite Black-owned coffee house, Sip and Sonder in Inglewood! A Laker game is a must! And hit up some bars in DTLA! I’d want them to see the chill side and real side of LA and not just the Hollywood glam!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate this to my Mom! She has been the biggest force pushing me to be the best that I can be and one of my biggest motivations. Without her support this would be much harder so thank you Mom!! I love you!
