We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany-Ann Huang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany-Ann, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
In terms of design, what I am inspired by is everything that is in art and nature. Whether the combination of colors are on a corner piece of an abstract painting, the colors of a beta fish or on planners (because planners are all so cute nowadays), I take photos of objects that catch my attention and find a way to incorporate them in my work. Most of my favorite designs that I create to adorn my cakes, cupcakes and macarons are heavily inspired by florals and greenery. In terms of flavor, my favorite flavors to bake with are infused with tea, like Earl Grey and matcha tea, or floral notes, like lavender and rose. I love experimenting with these more sophisticated flavors that step away from the classics and see how they can be incorporated in my treats. What truly inspires me to keep creating my treats is seeing the joy in my clients’ faces and hearing the “oohs and the ahs” when they try my treats.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What I am most proud of is being able to create treats that bring joy to people, especially during these unprecedented times. I love being able to bring into life what clients have in mind and to have the honor of being a part of their special moments in life. Also, those sweet accomplishments like creating a new recipe and creating new designs that my clients love are what motivate me to keep making and designing. Getting to where I am now professionally has not been easy. There have been countless nights turned mornings spent baking and decorating and countless of failures. There were so many days when I would tell myself that I’ll finish my task and then I’ll eat, but then one task becomes two and then three and then I find myself not having eaten all day. An important lesson I have learned along the way is to make sure that even though constant practice makes perfect, it is important to remember that your health comes first and that you do not compromise that, even if it is as little as making sure you get enough sleep or get something to eat.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting the area, I would take her antiquing at some of the most charming spots at Old Town Orange and then go on a boat ride along Newport Harbor and dock at Sol for some tacos or one of the many amazing restaurants at Lido Marina Village for a bite to eat, and then top it off with some frozen cheesecake for dessert at Balboa Bakery.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this to my parents, my sister, Carissa, my brother, Mark, and my boyfriend, Luke, who have been my cheerleaders throughout the entire journey of my business – from taste testing my new creations, listening to me analyze incessantly for hours about my ideas, to helping me with events. Without their continued love, support and encouragement, I would not be where I am or have had the opportunities I have received from creating my business.
