We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Poles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tiffany, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a successful business owner it is a challenge. It has definitely been crucial to find a happy medium when it comes to parenting. The most important thing at this time is including my daughter in the process. She has seen my working of countless hours day in and day out. Now being able to share the rewards with her has made it all worthwhile. Be it allowing her to choose where we stay or where we eat while traveling always makes it more like a team effort. Setting time aside just for her and taking trips that don’t include me working is also essential. Making sure my daughter understands how important she is to me and that she is loved and always comes first. I find that my method of work life balance helps me reset and realign myself. Sharing my process both good and bad with my daughter reinforces a couple ideals: 1. Why I must keep pushing and doing the best I can every single day.
2. Sharing the fruits of my labor with my daughter allows her to understand when you work hard you can play harder.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my consistency, creativity and my positive attitude. I am most proud of my clients first impression of their hairstyle and how their faces light up especially my younger clientele. Me getting where I am presently in my career has been not easy by any means. It consisted of a lot of discipline, networking, late nights and early mornings and me self promoting myself being a walking billboard for my brand. I have overcome my challenges by constantly having faith in myself first and foremost and having faith in my craft. The main lesson that I have learned along my journey through entrepreneurship is knowing it’s okay to say no and finding a balance so I can avoid overworking myself. I would love for the world to know and remember from my story is if you are looking to jump into your journey of entrepreneurship it’s okay to start now. You don’t have to have it all figured out but invest time in your dreams everyday.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would definitely take them to Roscoe’s chicken and waffles in Inglewood then scooter rides from Venice beach to Santa Monica pier and ending the evening with a dinner at The District.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My daughter Jiyah Nashay. My daughter has been so instrumental in my growth in my entrepreneurship. She has always been a sounding board for me and no matter what obstacles may arise, we tackle them head on and always prevail.
