We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiffany Spadola and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiffany, what is the most important factor behind your success?
One of the biggest reasons I have found success is through networking and through the support of other female-owned businesses. There’s a quote that I like–“Strong women lift each other up”—and I have been so fortunate to have become connected to many of them.

In my earliest stages of my business I joined networking groups, like Hermosa Circle, and started putting myself out there. I next connected with Ashley (formerly of FIT4MOM South Bay LA) and Christine of The Mom Walk Collective Redondo Beach who I have collaborated with on numerous events and talks. Also, Crystal from Dig It and Emily from Mommy Assist have also been supportive by donating gift cards to events that I have hosted. I really do appreciate all these women who have supported my journey in one way, or another, and helped me grow professionally. Additionally, I have connected with moms on my Instagram account and their kind words and positive feedback have been part of why I keep creating content for highly sensitive and strong-willed kids.

Lastly, my husband has encouraged me since the beginning of my journey and has told me to keep creating when I was unsure of where to start. He is my photographer, tech guy, and editor (so if there are any mistakes, blame him. Jk.) and I really couldn’t do it without his support. And course to my beautiful daughter who is my twin and helps keep my parent coaching skills strong. Ha!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about.

I’m a parent coach and the owner of Southbay Parent Coaching which provides virtual parent coaching to parents in the South Bay, as well as a Certified Potty Training Consultant through the Institute of Pediatric Sleep and Parenting. Additionally, I am a parent coach through Maven Clinic—the largest virtual clinic for women’s and family health—and support families throughout the world.

My area of interest is supporting moms with neurodivergent kids who have big behaviors and helping them understand their child’s unique temperament. I take a holistic approach to parent coaching and first start with looking at each child’s sleep and diet which I would say contributes to 80% of behavioral challenges. I tell my parents: “I can teach you all the coping strategies, but your child is not going to use them if they are dysregulated, hungry, and tired.” So, let’s start with improving their sleep and diet and then talk about strategies.” Additionally, a big bulk of my clients are potty training clients who are not responding to the 3-day methods, or Big Little Feelings potty training courses. The parents feel frustrated, hopeless, and often like they are doing something wrong. In our sessions, I provide support and reassurance, help identify their child’s unique potty profile and how it impacts potty training, and provide customized strategies for their kiddo. I let them know there are no firm rules in potty training when it comes to potty training neurodivergent kids, e.g. with Pull-Ups, rewards systems, or how long it takes to potty training. Each kid is unique so it’s impossible that one strategy works for all and that’s why I am here to help support them with their kids.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy?

I was a SAHM during the pandemic and after my daughter’s first birthday I knew I wanted to do something more. I had a conversation with my friend Laura, a speech language pathologist, who was also starting her own business. She recommended The Goal Digger Podcast which lit the fire under to me to get started and build my business. I would say that the process was not easy and I had to balance being a SAHM with no outside support (due to the pandemic and being far from our families) and creating a business from scratch. What that looked like was researching information while my daughter co-slept in my arms and working on the weekends while my husband watched her. I am not a tech person so I had to learn how to create a website and an Instagram account, and literally learn it all. It was a lot of work, but I am so proud of myself being able to tackle these challenges.

One way I go to where I was today is also through goal setting. As a former athlete I was used to setting goals for myself and used this strategy in business as well. Each January I would create professional goals for the new year, such as how many clients I wanted to see, money I would want to make, and businesses I would want to work with. This would help shape my focus on the steps of how I would get there, for example, what would it take be asked to create a paid course for a business. Also, another ongoing goal is to focus on how to create more value for my business, such as with additional courses, certifications, or collaborations. I am always thinking ahead and trying to use my time efficiently because as parents we don’t have a lot of it.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I want moms of spirited and strong-willed kids to know that you are not doing anything wrong to cause this and you are not alone. Often times you are the ones using the most strategies and reading the most books, but your kid does not follow the norms. They won’t settle when rocked gently, they scream in the stroller while you are doing a stroller fitness class, and can’t sit still during library story times. I see you because I am you and my goal as a parent coach is to support you in your unique journey so your child can thrive.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oooo, this is a good one!

Eat/Drink:
Medocino Farms at The Point for their “Not So Fried” chicken sandwich.
Good Stuff for breakfast and lunch. I love their turkey burgers with sweet potato fries.
The Coffee Bar in El Segundo for their honey lemon oat milk latte.
Racer Tea Bar for The Rocker and the tunes (I feel like I’m 20 year old again there. Ha!)
Sacks on the Beach for their lunch special and the views.
Paco’s Tacos for great Mexican food and homemade tortillas.
Tin Roof Bistro for a burger and drinks.

Places to Go:
Southcoast Botanic Gardens for the kids to play and great pictures.
Terranea Resort for the blissful silence and the views. You don’t realize how much ambient noise there is until you go here.
Westfield Century City is such a great mall to walk around. We love eating at Eataly and visiting during the holidays.

For families with kids: Looma Space, Dig It, and The Proud Bird.

Wellness:
Noe of Remedy Spa located at Heal EastWest is a healer. The minute she puts her hands on you a feeling of relaxing takes over and the stress melts away. I love her for massages and facials.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
