We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Maikeo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, what do you attribute your success to?
Coming from a family owned restaurant back in Northridge CA, I always believe in quality over quantity. I used the restaurant background to help me create my own version of what I believe is considered the best Thai Tea. I started making small batches for family & friend gatherings and next thing you know everyone was requesting for my Thai Tea drink at all the parties. When COVID started in 2020, I figured it was the perfect time to start my small business by creating my brand called Tim’s Thai Tea. Through the usage of social media, the word got out fast that I was providing curb side pick up orders and delivery to close by residents & businesses.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started my education at CSUN, as an undergraduate student in mechanical engineering and serving my county with the United States Air National Guard as a C-130J mechanic. I did a total of 9 years, deploying to Afghanistan 3 separate times during my term. What’s sets my brand / business apart is again quality over quantity. I love to serve my country, now it’s time to serve my Thai Tea, one bag at a time.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would rent out a convertible. Can’t enjoy Cali without a sun in your face. Or even better, if they can ride (motorcycle) I rather do that. We would start off with cars and coffee early in the morning. Checking out todays exotics and local cars. Then it would have to be some best breakfast along the coast somewhere. After that, I would say either some afternoon fro-yo or iced tea and sit down and chat and catch up. Right after that, I would definitely want to hit up a good unlimited KBBQ for a late lunch or early dinner. Then enjoying the night breeze while riding / driving around Hollywood. And can’t finish off without going to a local bar or hookah place. Most likely the hookah, since there’s a place to smoke and eat.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate a lot of my success to my lovely wife Maggie who encouraged me to start this business, my 3 beautiful/crazy children Valerie, Jacob, T.J., my supportive family, friends, Tim’s Thai Tea Crew (You know who you are), and especially the Tim’s Thai Tea followers and customers that have gotten me this far in my business.
