We had the good fortune of connecting with Timur Khoschanov and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Timur, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My name is Timur. I am a Director. I chose this direction because I believe that through visual transmission of information I can tell not only about my personal – painful or dear. I believe that art educates society. Art educates me as well.
I am from Kazakhstan – it is a country in Central Asia and the stronger I become as a professional, the more I learn about myself, my culture – I become older inside – more confident as a professional.
I chose this direction precisely because I believe that I can direct to a better future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am still young and have a long way to go, but I can be proud of where I am, who I am with and what I am doing now. It has never been easy to develop and become a better version of myself. But to achieve anything in this life, you need to start digging inside yourself.
One of the important lessons I learn is that none of us are bad, we just choose the wrong form to be understood. Few people want to understand us, and cinema tells us much more about us than we do ourselves. This is not only the magic of cinema, but the magic inside us.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a true story, by the way. My friend came to the screening of my short film. I invited him. We went to Malibu and it was dreamily warm, although the weather was cool. We stood barefoot in the water and looked into the distance, realizing that such situations in life are worth more than gold. People are very important in our lives, They make our lives whole.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I always thank my Family for believing in me and for their endless support under any circumstances. It is like a resource of energy for me, which allows me not to let go and to raise everything higher.
