We had the good fortune of connecting with TJ Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi TJ, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I had 27-year career going at NBCU and like many entertainment divisions over the past few years there was a structural shift and unfortunately my entire department were eliminated. I had seen and been through these types of changes before obviously this time was different. I wasn’t angry or resentful, there was a change in management, and they wanted what they wanted. My wife and I had several discussions we came to the conclusion, that there was a need for my skill set and I had the know-how and the contacts. The thing we learned during Covid is that we didn’t need the brick-and-mortar establishment to start and build a business.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our goal for All In Creative was to create one-stop shopping creative agency form production to editorial. The challenge is to keep up the quality of content both in production and post-production that’s within budget. I think the biggest plus I bring to the table is my institutional knowledge for entertainment marketing. I’ve watched the TV landscape evolve over the past 30 years and the one constant or least I try to keep at the forefront, is quality. There have certainly been challenges but I have been fortunate to lean on others who have gone through the same hurdles in starting their own business. I’m big believer in what comes around goes around, so if I can pay forward or help out in anyway, I certainly try.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
So much to do and see, a few things that come to mind for out-of- towners to experience. If I can wrangle a dinner reservation at the Magic Castle something out of the norm, grab a chilidog at Carney’s, and sticking with food theme, Nobu in Malibu. For sights to see, there’s the Petersen Museum, the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Griffith Observatory and would definitely need to catch a Dodger game. So much to more to see and do…it’s LA!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank former colleagues, who are now at other companies like Amazon, Warner Bros TV, Fox, as well as old and new colleagues at Universal Studio Group, NBC and Peacock who have given me the opportunity to prove myself. It’s also wonderful to celebrate in their success as we all take this journey together. There are few individuals that I would definitely like to give a shout out too, like Eric Bourgoujian at Mad Dog Video, Lesley Cerwin at Cerwin Communications and my wife Seema Johnson.
