We had the good fortune of connecting with Todd Williamson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Todd, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I like this question! There are a few habits that I have in place currently that have really help me stay on track to success. These might not be for everybody but they have definitely worked for me so far.

Visualisation is one of them, I like to walk and listen to music while visualising future situations. This a lot of the time is dance related wether I am visualising an artist that I would like to choreograph for in the future or a piece of choreography . I try to let myself be fully submerged in these scenarios, I find that manifestation is a powerful tool.

Taking risks. This one is super important. When a new project or opportunity presents itself and it feels uncomfortable or scares you that’s normally a great sign to go for it. There is so much learning to be had in that position.

Listening to what you need creatively, what do I need to do to stay in a flow of ideas and inspiration. Slowing down might be one option or creating more and pushing through obsticles. Being able to know the difference is a game changer.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love Dance so much. It’s my first love. Something that I am most proud is being able to share this love for dance with others, I love to teach and help others discover their own obsession with movement and music. There is something so rewarding about knowing you were a part of somebodies journey with dance and helped them grow in some way. I am vulnerable when I teach & I know this creates a safe space for other dancers to explore and be vulnerable also.

Personally it’s been a long journey to where I am now as a choreographer full of challenges and incredible lessons. Set backs are an opportunity to grow and that has been an important part of the path to the professional I am today. Changing the narrative of a set back to something transformative is key to success as a creative. There is a lot of rejection and missed opportunities as a choreographer but the relentless belief that what is meant for me will find me has been my mantra.

I would love for the readers to know that hard work alongside belief in yourself is a recipe for a exciting abundant life, it could sound obvious but its something we can all do if we take the chance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh it would have to be shopping on Melrose Ave, I have seen a lot if shopping around the world and nothing quite compares. The vibes are iconic there’s no doubt about it. A night out in Weho would also have to be on the list, some of the best nights of my life have taken place in Weho.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jam Republic. This agency singed me in 2020 and they have made a huge impact on my life, providing me with opportunities and support throughout the past three insanely exciting years. They are big part of my growth as a choreographer and I’m very grateful to be signed with them!

They have connected me to some really important opportunities, choreographing for major artists in the K-pop industry such as LE SSERAFIM, Aespa, XG & Twice.
