We had the good fortune of connecting with Tory Jeen Valach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tory Jeen, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success if my business is superior client relations. To me this is the soul of a successful business. I strive to have a caring, fun & respectful relationship, with each of my clients, whether they are investing in my jewelry or having a Tarot reading with me. I always want my clients to know how sincerely grateful I am for each of them!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I create jewelry using antique & vintage pieces, natural gemstones & precious metals. I have a passion for history which lead me down the path of using antique & vintage pieces in my work. I love rescuing pieces that may otherwise be melted down, for their metal content, and forever lost to the world. I love that aspect of what I do and think it’s important to preserve history in this way! I am lucky to have had a career in Business Management for many years. My experience does lend itself to running my own small business in a successful way. I am also blessed to be passionate about being an artisan and healer. I believe passion, for what you do, is the root of success when having your own business. Tying these two aspects together help me to maintain being able to share what I love with the world. There are challenges, every single day, as an artisan. Not having a regular paycheck can certainly be challenging. Having said that I believe in dedication and perseverance. I believe in my passion. I believe in sharing beauty through my wearable art and helping people with my intuitive Tarot readings. These things make me happy and others as well. So, I take one day and one challenge at a time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places, in the LA area, to share with guests are: The Huntington (they have a wonderful tea house in the Rose Garden) The Getty Center (delicious fine dining) The Getty Villa (wonderful lunch) Laduree at The Grove for lunch and a walk around the Farmer’s Market The Ivy on Robertson Antique shopping at The Santa Monica Antique Market (at the SM Airport) Walking on the beach near the Santa Monica Pier
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have has such amazing support while being in Los Angeles. Corinne Weber, of The Hängar LA, has been so supportive to me as a jewelry artisan. Over the years she has organized artist gatherings where we can all share our works with the local community. What a delight those events have been. A huge Thank-you, from my heart, goes to Corinne! I have been so honored and grateful to share Tarot readings at special events for Johnny Was, in LA & San Diego, for many years. I am indebted to Maritza Arrua for her repeated invitations. This has been on of the most exciting highlights in my career of being a Tarot Reader. I am forever grateful to Maritza. It has also been my great honor to share Tarot with the wonderful team & clients of Smashbox Studios. The Vice President of Smashbox, Aldana Oppizzi, has always sent such lovely invitations to share readings with clients and staff at Smashbox. I regularly read at their annual holiday party. I’m so grateful to Aldana. There are many, many more people, companies and friends do who have contributed to the success of my business. Each and every one are dear to my heart and I wish I could list them all here! A million Thanks!
