We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Bowles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At the age of 18 I had already adopted an entrepreneurial mindset. I knew that I wanted to own my own business one day, and I did just that by opening my own clothing boutique. After that business failed, I went on to work in the corporate world, but never gave up on the thought of working for myself. I had a passion for planning and designing events. I remembered a life coach speaker once said, “if you follow your passion you will discover what you want to do in life.” That stuck with me for a great while. I continued doing events for my friends, family, and for myself, but it didn’t occur to me that this would become my career path, and definitely not owning a business doing what I love. It wasn’t until a dear friend who was getting married and asked me to plan her destination wedding. After multiple requests, I thought it through and decided to get to work. It was actually my friend who encouraged me to go into business for myself planning weddings and events. I researched the business side of things and the certification programs for becoming a wedding planner, and the rest is now my reality, my business was born.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Flawless Weddings and Events is a full-service wedding and event planning company. What sets us apart from others in our line of business is that we are a mother and daughter team. I am a wedding and event planner, and my daughter Falynn is a floral designer. I am most proud of the fact that I get to work with my daughter and watch as she blossoms into an extraordinary floral designer and business owner. I love that I have a front row seat to her journey, which its priceless. I must say that owning a business is not easy. If you are going into business you must know that you will have some good days and some bad days, just like anything else in life. But, if you have faith and believe in your heart, you can and will overcome any business challenge. At the end of the day, you must seek God and have a great support team that believes in you, and I guarantee you, you will be stronger than ever. I want the world to know that I am following my passion in life. I am doing what I love which is planning weddings and designing events. I was a teenage mom to Falynn, and never in my wildest dreams thought I would be here sharing my journey with her on this level.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite eating places around my city, are downtown Brea, CA. They have Cha Cha’s Latin Kitchen, and Bruno’s Italian Kitchen, which both places are authentic. I love to show my friend Laguna Beach in South Orange County, CA. While there, we would visit the local restaurants, and shops, and enjoy a walk along the water. I also love the wine country up in central coast, so we will definitely take a drive up north.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Well…. I owe a lot of shoutouts to many people, but I will start with my biggest cheerleaders and the ones who inspire me to be great in life all the time. First, my husband Shon Bowles, who puts a smile on my face and encourages me daily to never give up. Second, my daughter Falynn, who is my business partner and my best friend. She gives me the energy, and the drive to keep focus, so I can never live in my feelings of fear and discouragement. Third, my dear friend Kimberly, who from day one cheered me on, and gives me endless advice and support. I really don’t know what I would do without her guidance. Fourth, my son William, who believes in his momma, and in his sister. He supports us when we have huge events by taking off work from his job to help us succeed. William always offers me great advice and wisdom. Last but certainly not least, my dear friend Tamela, if it wasn’t for her convincing me to go into business for myself planning weddings and events, I really don’t know what I would be doing now.
