We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Yun and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, how do you think about risk?
I believe that risk-taking is a crucial aspect of running a business. Without taking risks, we can never truly know whether our ideas will succeed or fail unless we try. Throughout my career and personal life, I have made many decisions that involved risk. Some of these decisions have led to great success, while others have not. The beauty of taking risks is that I can confidently say I gave it my all, rather than dwelling on an idea, feeling afraid of failure, and never reaching the finish line. If I do fail, at least I can learn from my mistakes and avoid repeating them in the future.

Stepping out of my comfort zone is another important aspect of risk-taking. Personal development and growth in business acumen are rarely comfortable. However, by taking risks and pushing ourselves beyond our comfort zones, we can expand our personal and business mindset.

Furthermore, when taking risks, we need to weigh the benefits, understand the potential losses, and consider whether the price is worth it. Indeed, some of the riskiest moves can ultimately become the most successful in running a business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I established my business in 2013 and operate from a 200-square-foot office in Long Beach, California, under the name Seductive Lashes By TN. Initially, my dream was simple: to run my own business part-time while paying for my undergraduate degree. However, as time went on and I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration, my passion for creating an esthetics business focused on personalized treatments continued to grow.

Instead of pursuing a corporate job, I dedicated myself to my business and put my faith in it. When COVID-19 hit, all personal care businesses had to temporarily close down, and many did not survive. My business was on the verge of shutting its doors after nine years of hard work. This is where my willingness to take risks came into play. I decided to leave Long Beach and relocate to Cerritos, California, in late 2021, which was one of the best business decisions I’ve ever made.

The stakes were higher, and there were more costs associated with the move, but the opportunity for growth allowed me to rebrand the business as TN Esthetics Center Medical Spa. Now, in 2025, the business has expanded, and even amid a challenging economy, we have built a loyal client base that has been with us for nearly 13 years.

One of my proudest decisions regarding the business has been to maintain an unwavering commitment to the quality of services we provide to our clients, even in challenging times. We refuse to cut corners or sacrifice our dedication to delivering high quality products and services. This commitment to excellence is shared by me and the entire team at TN Esthetics Center.

We treat each client like a friend or family member, always asking ourselves whether we would offer a treatment to our loved ones that yields only acceptable results or the absolute best outcomes. With that mindset, we strive to meet everyone’s aesthetic needs by consistently delivering the highest quality results possible.

One of the lessons I’ve learned and continue to practice is to “Always Believe in Myself.” While others can have faith in me, but if I don’t believe in myself, then I can not become successful. Adopting an “I can do it” mentality has made me stronger, enabling me to keep learning, advancing my career towards higher education by pursuing a Master’s in Nursing, and expanding my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Los Angeles, especially Little Tokyo in downtown LA. If my best friend were to visit, I would plan a day starting with a cold, minty coffee from Philz Coffee. After that, we would drive to the Flower Market in LA to appreciate the beauty of all types of flowers and plants. Inhaling the fragrance that emanates from the flowers can have therapeutic effects. For lunch, we would enjoy their lunch special, Toro Don at Otoro Sushi & Wine, along with a refreshing matcha drink. After lunch, we would continue our adventure by walking around Little Tokyo, enjoying all the little things we see.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my life, I have met many exceptional individuals and had the privilege of learning from influential mentors in my career. However, I want to express my gratitude to those who believe in me and support my ideas and goals. My family has been one of my biggest supporters since the very beginning of my business journey. Without their encouragement, I wouldn’t have had the motivation to persevere through the ups and downs of both my business and personal life. Ultimately, understanding the reasons behind my work, who I am doing it for, and the purpose it serves has guided me to continue my business, even when faced with challenges.
