We had the good fortune of connecting with Trapkingkai and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trapkingkai, what’s your definition for success?
Success to me is living happy and healthy. Being able to provide for your family and living the life you always want to live.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an emcee from Louisville, KY, driven by a love for music and culture. I began rapping at 14 and released my first song at 17, setting my sights on a musical career.

In 2012, I partnered with Dillon McCluskey we formed a rap duo andi joined his music collective, Above Peoples Expectations. Our journey started with open mic nights in Kentucky and Indiana.

By 2016, we took charge, organizing our own shows and building a loyal fanbase. This led to my debut project, “Otherworld,” with EDM DJ Cave Dwlr, and my first solo tour that summer.

From 2016 to 2020, I released more EPs and expanded my performances, even planning a tour out west. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, I continued creating music, honing my songwriting and social media skills, and growing my fanbase organically, setting the stage for future travels.

Now in 2024, my team Hxndsxght and I are venturing into media, launching YouTube talk shows and vlogs to showcase our creativity to the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely Toasty’s in Louisville, KY. Hands down have the best burgers in the city

Kaiju is also great place to visit. It’s a small Bar/Music Venue in our city with a Japanese theme. Plus they have video games in the back and live music.

Cherokee park in the Highlands is great for picnics and outdoor hangouts.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Yeah, I would like to thank my team Hxndsxght (Dillon McCluskey & La’ Tray). They always motivate and keep me on my game while allowing me to grow as a artist. We had a great run so far and I can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future
