We had the good fortune of connecting with Travis Joe Dixon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Travis Joe, what principle do you value most?
Are you being of service to those around you? And what I mean by that is are you contributions to the project in service of the bigger picture? I look at “being of service” at every level from the PA who makes sure the sides are printed to the director who is available for any and all questions. If you are constantly looking for a way to make somebody’s life easier, that can only serve to make the living unit as a whole more productive. The simple gesture of asking “Is there anything I can do to help?” goes a long way, even if you can’t.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always said I’ve wanted to just work. And what that has translated into is a world where I try to say “Yes” to all opportunities within reason. The journey of saying “yes” has taken me from a hovel on one side of the camera and to a multi-tiered estate on the other with numerous rooms housing the various skill sets I’ve picked up. The pandemic forced a lot of us to reevaluate our priorities. When acting came to a complete stop, I pivoted. I love this business for all its faults but overall I think it’s made me a better story teller to wade in the process of pre and post by doing it first hand. When it comes to a project I believe in, I’m eager to get involved at any level and determined to see it completed.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My best friend did visit a few years ago and at first I let him take the reins. He has his map of typical sightseeing attractions and of course, I love to do those every time a new person comes to town. We hit the Hollywood Walk of Fame, wax museums, and the Santa Monica pier. My contribution to the trip involved hikes to behind the Hollywood sign and Wisdom Tree, a few bars owned by some friends of mine and a hidden magic show,

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d be a failure of a husband if I didn’t say that my wife, Rachel, has had a huge impact on any new direction my life has taken. She has been there to help troubleshoot every new endeavor. But the outside forces that have pushed me onto that new path have come from the friends and colleagues I’ve made while on various projects from theatre to film. From editing my first feature, taking on director of photography role on several award winning short films, directing my first stage play and, most recently, being asked to talent produce a FOX gameshow pilot, it’s my peers that have helped drive my attention and focus to opportunities other than acting while my wife helps support my various entertainment titles at home as my think tank.
