We had the good fortune of connecting with Trenisha Webster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trenisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process was about turning my skills into financial freedom. When I began my business, I was unemployed. The jobs that were available, didn’t want to pay an amount that was deserving for a bachelor’s degree. I was not willing to downgrade my skillset, education, or experience for $12/hr. I created a blueprint analyzing everything I know how to do. I drafted a website, business card designs, marketing material and used social media to promote. Once I began my line of business, I received my first client a couple months after for resume designing. A few months after that, I received a client wanting to start her own business and chose the Entrepreneur package. That first year began a name for T-Marie Innovations. Each year I strive to enhance and rebrand the business by creating new products, promotions, change in color schemes, more client photos and becoming more active within the community.

What should our readers know about your business?
I would be considered an all-in-one line of business. I am a Business Development & Credit Consultant. Our products include: Entrepreneur Beginner’s Package, marketing materials, resume designing, business coaching, business development notary signing, personal declaration package, personal credit services and business credit services.

It was not easy. Competition is growing. However, I am listed as one of the top 5 businesses to work with within Iowa. I have overcame challenges by promoting my business, interviews, introducing new products and services, and revamping the business annually.

Lessons I have learned along the way is that strangers will become your biggest supporters, your first to second year you may not make a profit, and to keep pushing and promoting no matter how big the competition.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I really don’t get out much within my city. I’m more of a homebody.

I would take my friends to a place called Stuffed Olive. My best friend and I go there. It’s a very low-key restaurant that based their establishment on different types of martinis.

Another place would be Adventureland which is our amusement park. If you like a thrill, they have new roller-coasters.

We have a low-key lodge where you can have karaoke, play older games like pac-man or human size jenga.

Farmers markets are on Saturdays downtown in the city or some other areas have their own farmers markets in Valley Junction.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

My babygirl, Reyna, the boss baby.
My Son, Robert II, the Muscle.
My oldest, Leare’a, the Major.

I became a mother at the age of 23. I can admit, I wasn’t ready but I became responsible. They became my priority. Each kid saved me in a different way. My kids are my air. I continue to become the best version of me through them. T-Marie Innovations continued because of them. I want to be the one to leave a legacy to them. I want them to grow to find their own paths in life whether it’s college or entrepreneurship. Even though they are kids, they became my support, my drive, my reason for every decision made. With that, I take pride in the education I’ve given them, the will to learn, the motivation to excel and the wisdom to guide them through their future goals.
