Meet Trisha Hershberger | TV Host, Streamer, Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trisha Hershberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trisha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business came out of necessity honestly. I found over and over that my worth as an employee was underappreciated and my tendency to overachieve and outperform goals was being taken advantage of. I knew if I ever wanted to take control of my own career, both financially and creatively, I’d have to branch out on my own, so that’s exactly what I did. In 2015, I started my own production company and I’ve never looked back.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve managed to find a niche where I get to educate others and build hype around the things I am passionate about – namely gaming, tech and fandom entertainment! Topics that used to be considered embarrassing or ‘nerdy’ are now celebrated in a way I never could have seen coming. I think a lot of my success is attributed to learning my craft (production and on camera skills), being unapologetic in who I am and not giving up when challenges present themselves, whether they be personal or professional. Nowadays I do a lot of work educating others about the intersection of tech and gaming – new PC hardware advancements, consumer tech upgrades, and even smartphone advances fall into areas I cover. I also am very passionate about the indie game scene and highlighting lesser known projects in addition to the AAA titles we all hear about. I not only create content for my own distribution and social channels, but I often am hired to help major brands with their public facing content. I’ve worked with brands like Intel, Nintendo, Alienware, Kingston, Mattel, Amazon, Newegg, Microsoft and more over the past decade and I hope to continue to be challenged in new ways over the next decade.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is fantastic in that there’s a bit of something for everyone. Some of my favorite spots in the city include: The Last Bookstore – Built in an old fortified bank, this place is a literary lovers dream! Despite finding just about any book you want there, the book-themed artwork and decor perfectly blend with the musty smell of old books.
Cantrip Candles – For the tabletop gamers out there seeking for the perfect ambiance for their next adventure, Cantrip Candles has just what you need. With fantasy-themed scents like “Adventurer’s Emporium” and “Forest of Fae” and mypersonal favorite “Sanctuary” – there’s a scent for every occassion.
The Magic Castle – If getting all dolled up in your Hollywood’s finest and delighting in an evening of otherworldly entertainment is what you are after, then the uber-exclusive Magic Castle in Hollywood is the best! Magicians from all over the world travel here to perform and the building itself has so much history and mystique to it. If you are a lover of the magical arts, you definitely need to stop by.
LA has a lot of bar-cades – bars that also function as arcades – for the video game lovers, and those are great, but I prefer visiting the iam8bit gallery for a truly unique experience. iam8bit sells video game collectibles, art, vinyls and more and hosts exhibitions from time to time that you can attend at their headquarters here in Los Angeles. They sell limited run items online as well, but it’s fun to be there in person if you can. If you do want to visit a barcade nearby, Button Mash has great food and a really fun atmosphere.
If you like hiking, there’s lots of hiking locations that double as tv/film sets. Vasquez Rocks have been featured in many classically nerdy films and shows including Planet of the Apes, Star Trek, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey and more.
Of course, when in LA you’ll probably also want to stop by a studio to see a tv show taping or drop by the Pantages Theatre to see some live performances as well. One of the things I love about this city is how much variety it holds. There’s truly something for everyone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my parents, who gave me the confidence to be myself, even if my interests seemed quirky or unusual. They always challenged me to work hard and believe that I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. Without that confidence or drive, I would never be where I am today.
