We had the good fortune of connecting with Trisha Kwan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Trisha, why did you pursue a creative career?
I have always loved drawing since I was in elementary school. I always loved the art of brows, but I didn’t think it would be an actual career. In high school, I was in yearbook and learned a lot about deadlines, designing pages, gathering information, etc. When I graduated high school, I thought I wanted to be a graphic designer. But later, I realized my passion for art was on people. I love the books from Kevyn Aucoin “Making Faces” and “Face Forward”. I always loved working with people and creating art by bringing out their natural beauty. While I was on my makeup artistry career path, I came upon the opportunity to work with a brow studio called Anastasia Beverly Hills. This experience opened my eyes to working with the art of eyebrows. I love creating eyebrows and teaching people how brows can compliment their natural beauty. Eyebrows are everything to me! They frame your face and create your facial expressions. I opened my business specializing in eyebrows because I wanted to have people see how amazing their brows could be with the different services I offer. Today I am happy to say that I’ve changed many people’s views and love for natural brows!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Everyone’s journey is never an easy road. I have gone through struggles of not being able to fully work as much as I would like when I had kids. Just this year, my kids are starting to get bigger and I am now able to put in more work hours. I was also able to open up my own brow studio inside a Phenix Salon Suite. I’m still taking steps towards growing my business and getting to my goals. However, trying to reach my goals can be a bit difficult especially during this pandemic. My kids are currently distance learning, and government orders in LA county are strict when reopening our county (our industry is one of the last to open). It doesn’t make sense for us to be the last to open when our environment is more controlled with working on people one by one and we keep our space clean and disinfected between clients. Even though I wasn’t able to open during the pandemic, I didn’t want to be discouraged and lose my passion for my work. So I took more classes online and did a one on one training to keep learning and keep practicing so I don’t lose my work skills. I will always continue to keep my eyes on my goals despite these challenges, and I cannot wait to see how much my business will grow.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I cannot thank my parents, husband, kids, family and friends enough for supporting me in my passion for my career. Everyone has been so supportive and I am so thankful and blessed for everyone I come across and meet. I am happy to hear people loving my work and sharing and supporting what I do to their friends and families. Thank you all so much!!
