We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Freyee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Troy, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
One of the most important lessons I have learnt is to go with the flow… and also to hire people in their expertise, I cant do everything even though I want to. Also to take time out… everything is so time precious so taking time out is essential and extremely hard to do when you love your job, there were some moments there I literally didn’t stop working for a full month straight… I then needed to take a whole week off because I was so burnt out.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hmmm great questions…. I suppose I got to where i am today because i learnt to trust my intuition and take on advice… like I am not stuck in my way and am ALWAYS keen to learn more. I kinda find my journey easy in a sense… like there def have been challenges but I mainly just go with the flow, and the ball just seems to keep rolling… I keep expecting to not get booked but its the opposite, I keep getting busier and busier and with brands and people that i LOVE. I suppose I would want the world to know I’m grateful AF and feel extremely blessed.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
OH easy. Well I live in the beautiful Burleigh heads which is a suburb on the Gold Coast Australia… and I tell ya its a bloody vibe… I would most likely start the day off with an arvo walk around the national park here which has epic views of the coast followed by a coffee at my fave place ‘seadog in the park’ – then i would get a carton of beers and spend the day by the beach with tunes and bulk swims…. then I would take them to my favourite cocktail place ‘Rick shores’ watch the sun go down… then party on where ever the fun is happening at the time… probs one of my friends warehouse’ here.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Of course…. there are many people that I give my praises to. But my main one would be Ainsley from Sticks and Stones Agency. Ainsley found me after i graduated from my. diploma of photography many years back and has given me that inner power and wisdom to go for what I love.
