We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy O’Conner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I decided to start my own businesses to provide myself financial freedom and ownership. I believed I had gained enough knowledge and experience from jobs to understand that if I didn’t work hard on my own dreams, someone else would keep hiring me to work on theirs. I wanted to create something I could call mine and be proud of, but more importantly I wanted to create generational wealth.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
What sets me apart from others is not worrying about whether or not whatever I’m doing will be considered cool. I don’t rely on what people think is cool to support, I do what I want and what I believe will hold value in people’s life and I’m proud of that because a lot of people don’t approach there business like that. I got to where I’m at today business-wise by not only studying business owners I looked up to but just believing in myself and trusting my own process. I had already envisioned my business ideas so It was up to me how much of those ideas I wanted to come to life and once i realized that, my process became even easier and that’s what I would like the world to know as well. Anything you set your mind to, you can achieve.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my first shoutout to my mom. Seeing my mom get up and grind everyday as a single parent of two and never hearing her complain or make excuses is the reason why I get up and grind hard everyday. I want to dedicate my second shoutout to my big brother. My big bro taught me how to stay focused, live below my means, and overall discipline. Lastly, I want to dedicate my third shoutout to the late great Nipsey Hussle. Nipsey taught me to build where I’m from, cut the middle man out, and most importantly ownership.
