We had the good fortune of connecting with Tully Diö and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tully, what do you attribute your success to?
I am genuinely passionate about what I do. Every time I put on my headphones to pick out the tracks for our next show, I’m excited to listen to all the new bands – it’s something I dig every single time. I’m excited to find new music and share it with the world, I want the bands I play to succeed, and I want our listeners to feel that same excitement. I believe that translates in our podcast and music video show; the people can feel the passion I have for the artists. It’s real.
Also, I’ve surrounded myself with people who are equally as passionate. When you’re striving toward your goal, it’s clutch to have a like-minded crew that shares your passion and vision.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
There is so much underground music out there that will blow people away. We do the podcast and music video show to share all the brilliant music we find and give musicians a free platform to have their music played. We want our listeners to find their new favorite band, their new favorite song – to connect to the music. The shows are for people that want something different than mainstream radio and popular music. Every week we introduce four new tracks, interview an artist, and end the show with a full uncensored album without interruptions.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show them this small part of Burbank with these awesome shops! Halloween town (cool anytime of year), The Bearded Lady”s Mystic Museum, Black Cat Comics and Collectables, Atomic Records. Then we head over to NoHo Tattoo to commemorate the day.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Two collage radio stations changed my views on music: WSGR and WXOU. The two stations challenged me to explore and play music NOT on popular radio. I’ve been searching for new music ever since. Also my Dad got me into the classics: Led Zeppelin, The Moody Blues, Jimi Hendrix.
