We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tyler, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
I’m inspired by….truthfully my own inner critic and own self doubts. It sounds a little weird lol , but I am my own biggest critic . Most things I did not do was out of my own fear or lack of beliefe in myself. I truly regret not modeling sooner or creating my own brand sooner. Shoot! I should probably go ahead and get my llc for my own therapy practice. The only reason why I waited to do these things is because at a younger age I lacked confidence, vision, security in what I wanted. I lost sight of my values and what brings me fulfillment in life until I was 25/26. I’m still exploring what life means to me and what I value most.
Once I got insight on my values, I was able to take action in alignment with my values versus avoiding pursuing a dream due to fear or discomfort.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I apply what I bring to my therapy sessions to the runway, shoot, and set. I try to bring mindfulness into the work place to help reduce any miscommunication, taking things personal, or poor performance. I’m the girl backstage encouraging others to embrace their nervousness or doubts and use it as a driving force for reward. I get this idea from the intervention modality I use in my sessions, ACT:Acceptance Commitment Therapy.

I’d say I am most proud of being almost done with my clinical hours. Come December 2022 I will be a Clinical professional, LCSW!! I am also proud of the shows I walked in NYFW , BET awards fashion show, and walking for Kevin Murphy was a huge moment for me.

Some lessons I learned is that most things are subjective when it comes to castings and you have to accept what’not in your control. Put your efforts on what you can control, like investment in your portfolio, finding a good agent, improving on your craft, researching on how to build your brand and clientele.

I want the world to know I represent those who thought they weren’t enough, not worthy, not vauled, and that you are more than enough, you are more than you could possibly imagine if you ALLOW yourself to shine bright , lean on God, and be the creation He intended for you to be.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Mmmmm my bestie? lol , I would take them …if weather permits…to Lago Vista on a boat to Devils Cove, Windy point creek to swim, and Lake Pflugerville to paddleboard (it’s wayyy cleaner than the usual Lady Brid Lake or Lake Travis), Trulucks and Cajjun Eats to eat (Im a seafoodie), Group therapy for drinks, Dos Salsa for margaritas of course, and probably Sky hookah lounge for something subtle. Id also make sure to check out Soco and the wineries in Georgetown. I like a mix of art, culture, and cost efficient activities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Hmm I want to shout out my borther Johnathan and his podcast called Podlanthropy, found on all social media platforms. I also want to shout out my very dear friend January for all that he does for our country. He’s been like a mentor to me. I also want to shout out his lady Carla. She has a book out on Amazon and is currently traveling doing book signings. If you want a good read, you should check out her book called, “Live on Purpose Through Fearless Faith”.
