We had the good fortune of connecting with Tynisha Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tynisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my business derived from my passion for fitness and the desire to encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle as well,

I’ve always been into fitness in some capacity; In school I ran track and danced. As an adult, I continued with dance in the church, participated in races annually in the community and most recently started to compete in the world of bodybuilding.

Becoming a Personal Trainer was the obvious next step for me and I ran from the idea for so many years, even after people told me this is what I should consider doing, but I was afraid.

Once I decided not to allow fear to consume me, I took that leap of faith and took the necessary steps to not only change how I showed up physically, but that also allowed me the ability to show up differently mentally and move towards the certification process to finally fulfill my desire to guide people on the path of health and wellness.

Starting my business gives me the platform and opportunity to be in position to make change, change in how people view fitness and nutrition.

I love what I do and I love the opportunity Im given on a daily bases to make a positive impact in people’s lives

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
TyFit Personal Training was established in 2017, the initial concept of TyFit was to engage a group of individuals to have a group/circuit training experience in some capacity in different locations, so my initial title was “TyFit Mobility Circuit Training” because I had a vision to be mobile as I introduced a variety of fitness experiences to individuals on their fitness journey through circuit training, hiking, running, ext. As I worked with these groups for several months, I wasn’t feeling satisfied with the level of expertise I was providing and felt ill-equipped to continue on this specific path, so I took a step back for a year to re-brand myself and my business model. In April of 2018, I hired a Personal Trainer to get myself in better shape both physically and mentally and during that time, I decided to train for my first fitness (bikini) competition. Although this was a tough journey, I learned so much about myself and fitness. I competed in April 2019 and took 1st and 2nd place in my categories which pushed me to finally register for and become a Certified Personal Trainer. In October 2019 I was officially certified and now I felt more equipped to give proper guidance to individuals that come to me for assistance in their fitness journey. In that moment, Ty2Fit Personal Training was Born! After my first competition I continued on to compete and became Nationally Qualified and have competed on a National stage and placed in the top 3, taking home a 1st place win at my last show in 2022.

Ty2Fit Personal Training is currently serving clients, both virtually, online based and in person, with a goal to expand. This journey has been amazing, helping individuals get into great shape and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me.

The lessons Ive learned along the way is to never give up, to pivot when necessary and learn from both mistakes and accomplishments because there’s always room for improvement.

When people see me, I want them to see the brand. I want to be a walking testament of encouragement and motivation to anyone seeking to make a lifestyle change as it relates to health and wellness

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a horrible planner when it comes to thinking of cool places to take someone, I become very indecisive , but If I wanted to show someone the city and outside of doing something they specifically requested, I would:

Sat- Tour of LA, Maybe a Beach Day or Bond Fire
Sun- Church and Gospel Brunch wherever one is being held
Mon- Have lunch in a different city, maybe OC and find some popular sites out there that includes shopping
Tues- Dinner at a nice Korean BBQ Spot with nice views of the city
Wed- Rest Day. We all need a break lol or whatever they want to do
Thurs- Free style the day, hang out
Fri- Brunch or BBQ at home and Relax

Something like that, unless they have specific requests

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a great support system but I would like to shout out my Husband. He has been a trooper by allowing me the freedom to explore my goals as I see fit. He’s always there to support me, give me sound advice, some I take and some I table.

I competed for 4 years straight and he was at every one of my shows, even the ones out of town, cheering me on every step of the way.

So Im so grateful to have a partner in my life that has by back and loves me through all the ups and downs.

He’s the absolute best
