We had the good fortune of connecting with Val Gallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Val, why did you pursue a creative career?
I honestly can’t see myself doing anything else. Music is what makes me happy and what makes me feel whole. I always knew that I wanted to pursue what made me happy in life.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Music has always been a part of my life, I started playing piano at a very young age. I joined music class in high school where I started a band with some friends. I never really thought of myself as a vocalist so at the beginning I would just play guitar, piano, or bass – until a friend told me that I had a great voice. I studied vocal training and soon after my musical theater career began. After a few years of performing in theatre I decided that I wanted to write my own music. I’ve always loved darker and heavier music, and I wanted to find myself as an artist and make my own sound. I went to music school again, but this time I was more focused on contemporary songwriting and music business. Ever since I graduated I’ve been writing songs, collaborating with musicians, and at the moment I’m working on my project. I’ve been busy writing and recording the debut album for my band ‘End Eve’. The music is a mix of pop, metal, screams, clean vocals, dark, and heavy. I am so excited to finally release music this year, I couldn’t be happier!
I wouldn’t say it’s been an easy ride to get to where I am today. There’s been a lot of ups and downs, a lot of sleepless nights, a lot of disappointments…overall, a lot work! But I’ve learned so many valuable lessons along the way – I’ve learned to be resilient, to be fearless, to believe in myself when nobody else will, and to never give up on my dream, no matter how hard it gets. I learned to trust the process and trust that amazing things will happen if I keep doing what I love.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I still have a lot of spots to discover in LA, every time people come to visit I have so much fun showing them around. I would probably take them to either Universal Studios Hollywood or Disneyland, I’m a big amusement park person and that is always a fun thing to do when friends and family visit. Some of the coolest places I’ve ever been to in LA, are The Last Bookstore and The Broad Museum in Downtown. I’m not super into hiking but the Griffith Observatory is an incredible experience. For food and drinks, Los Feliz/Silverlake area has some of the greatest restaurants, bars, and coffee shops I’ve been to. And lastly, I would love to have them experience the night life by taking them to a live show at one of LA’s famous venues.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have so many people to thank because without all the people I’ve met, and the experiences I’ve gone through, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Firstly, I would love to give a shoutout to my family for their unwavering support. I am all about supporting my friends and their talent, so today I would love to give a shoutout to my friend Kendra Saylor, she’s an amazing designer and her leather brand ‘Saylorbone’ is absolute perfection. I also want to give a shoutout to Leah Martin-Brown, she’s a powerhouse of a singer/songwriter and one of the most supportive friends I’ve ever had.
