We had the good fortune of connecting with Valary Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Valary, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important piece of our brand has always been integrity: we hold steady with our creative process. We refuse to take shortcuts which might save a buck or two, but ultimately these shortcuts sacrifice quality and aesthetic. We pour so much passion into each design and every campaign. And I believe this resonates with our customer, which leads to the basis of our success; support from our customer base. We value our customers and strive to connect with them on a personal level. We put a huge amount of effort into customer service, ensuring our community feels supported. It all goes full circle.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The eyewear industry is largely male-centric and monopolized by mass production. We love being one of very few eyewear brands which are women-owned and operate one hundred percent independently. My twin sister and I have our hands on every piece of the project from the ground up. As an independent brand, we are able to implement small-batch designs with unique and custom details.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Huntington Beach has a quaint beach town charm to it. Main Street has history with some of the older buildings dating back over one hundred years. It’s worth checking out and doing a nice walk down the pier. If you’re looking for nature, a walk through the Bolsa Chica wetlands is a great way to recharge. For lunch, I’d stop by Jan’s, Secret Spot, or Fiesta Grill. And for a nicer dinner, my absolute favorite is LSXO, a hidden place inside the restaurant Blue Gold.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The book Super Attractor by Gabrielle Bernstein really brightened my perspective and cultivated a healthier work lifestyle for me. Bernstein’s writings and teachings truly inspire me to lead from my heart and honor my authentic self, through business and personal ventures.
