Meet Valentina Kazazian | International Bridal Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Valentina Kazazian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valentina, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my journey has taught me is the power of adaptability. In a rapidly changing world, pivoting, learning new skills, and embracing change are essential for growth and success. Flexibility in thinking and the willingness to step out of one’s comfort zone are traits that can help navigate challenges and seize opportunities that come along the way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started my career as a makeup artist over ten years ago. I’ve enjoyed working with thousands of clients, celebrities, models, international cosmetic brands, Hollywood film sets, Red Carpet events, campaigns, and many more. It’s been quite the journey, and getting here has not been easy. Building a solid portfolio is essential for attracting clients, but it can be challenging when starting and trying to gain experience. As a makeup artist, you are expected to work in high-pressure environments such as weddings, events, and photoshoots, often resulting in unpredictable work hours. Therefore, finding a good work-life balance is essential. With this also came the challenge of never saying “no” because you didn’t want to turn down a client due to the competitiveness in the industry. The job is physically demanding; working long hours standing up and transporting our makeup kits to different locations takes a toll on your body, which led to some health issues I needed to prioritize and, therefore, limit my availability and find that balance. This also comes with another set of challenges, like not having a steady income and being able to manage your finances and plan for the future without consistent pay. Every job has its challenges, but I’m grateful to have built a business I’m passionate about and get to do what I love every day. As for my brand, I am currently working on several exciting projects, including the upcoming launch of my cosmetics brand and private in-person makeup lessons.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Anyone who knows me knows how much I love trying out new restaurants and different coffee shops. Introducing my friends to my favorite go-to spots genuinely makes me happy! There are so many hidden gem spots in LA that I would take her to. I’d start the mornings with a great cup of coffee from Maru or Regent coffee and a nice hike at Giffith Park Observatory overlooking the City or near Malibu with beautiful beaches. Followed by brunch at Eataly L.A. and a shopping spree at Century City. The nightlife in L.A. is very exciting, and there are a ton of places to go to. A few places I love to eat at are Ysabel, Catch LA, and Steak 48. A few activities to do include bowling, ice skating, or visiting a local hookah lounge for something a little more laid back. I also love going to the Grove in West Hollywood or visiting the Santa Monica Pier to sit on the roller coaster or play games. There’s a lot to do out here, and I love exploring it all.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering support of my family, friends, and clients, who have believed in me and my craft from day one. Their trust in me has been crucial in pursuing my dreams and expressing my creativity and passion through makeup.
