We had the good fortune of connecting with PHOBIK and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi PHOBIK, how do you think about risk?
Risks are what life is about. You win some, you lose some. You sometimes make the wrong moves to end up righy where you’re supposed to be. Whatever the circumstance might be i think as long as you give it your all, always bet on yourself. This year in particular can show you that risks are everywhere and it presents itself every second of your life. I’ve had time to reflect and acknowledge how much of those risks we take on the daily. All I can do is try to adapt and hold myself responsible for the outcome. Whether its art related or personal or everyday in general.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Biggest influence of this year is our current lifestyle. Quarantine cartoons And a group show at @Ewkuks got me on a cartoon tip. While my graphic novel illustrations tackle current life events unfolding in my life. My public outdoor work is shaping out and presenting not only an alphabet in the making through color coded blocks but also providing a more inviting visual of stray cats in Los Angeles. Im having fun. Rewatching my childhood cartoons made it flow more naturally to pose and execute the facial expressions. Compared to my graphic novel illustrations which I like to add a more realistic detail to them. Still I can find a way to merge them. Getting to this point wasn’t easy BUT here we are! With help from family friends and people that came in and out of my life. All pieces to the puzzle. I guess the world should know that cliche quotes make sense when you walk the walk. “Be like water” -Bruce Lee “Nobody can do you better than you can do yourself” -Snoop Dogg “Do Good Deeds, Be your own God” -me
