We had the good fortune of connecting with Tray Wilkerson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tray, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Behind starting my own business, my thoughts were Legendary! I’ve always wanted to leave a big impact on people while and even after i am living. I also didn’t want to put all my time and effort into working for someone else and helping their business skyrocket, when I have just as big or even bigger dreams of my own. Through my business I would hope to create generational health for my family members to come as well as leave them with something to call their own, manage, and continue. The legacy must go on!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do a mixture of fashion & music. I have been growing a brand called “Abandon Goods” since 2013 pushing my story and testimony though fashion. Then late 2018 I began to do music. The hood thing for me is that they both go hand and hand so now I’ve been living the life of a rapper/fashion designer swagging my own merchandise in visuals. It’s lit.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First things first we have to go stop by somewhere fire and get some good eats. Then, I’d take them to the hottest skate shop & mall and town so we can get fly. Then later that night, we would step out and see what vibes we will catch.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout-out to my friends and family for supporting me and pushing me thus far I couldn’t have done it without any of you guys’. I would also like to thank God for keeping me going through all the trials and tribulations I have faced and conquered because without those situations I wouldn’t be as strong as I am today or even have the urge to keep striving, so I thank him for that.
