Meet Valery Rozo | Actress & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Valery Rozo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Valery, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There are many reasons why I chose an artistic career, but for me, it doesn’t feel like I picked this path—it feels like this path picked me. I’ve been creative for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been drawn to the arts—whether it was painting, crafting, or performing. For me, there was never another option; I can’t imagine doing anything else but creating and bringing my ideas to life.
The reason is simple: I want to honor my younger self by pursuing what she always loved. I refuse to set aside that childlike passion just to meet other people’s expectations. I’m aware that an artistic career may not be seen as valuable in the eyes of everyone, but I’ve been fortunate to have a supportive circle of family and friends who encourage me every day to be the best at what I do.
Art has always been my most natural form of expression. It allows me to communicate without overthinking or struggling to find the right words. I can focus on the emotions behind my message and let the creativity speak for itself.
Another reason I chose a path like acting is because I rarely see people like me represented in the industry. While there are successful artists who inspire me, there’s still a lack of Hispanic and Latino actors—especially those who, like me, migrated to another country to follow their dreams. When we do see representation, it often falls into stereotypes. But some have broken out of that mold and made a difference—and that’s where I want to be. I want to be one of those examples who inspires future generations, especially those who are unsure about taking the leap.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My start in this career hasn’t been easy. Of course, I’ve had the support of the people around me, and I’m fully aware that without them, it would’ve been a million times harder—but that doesn’t mean I haven’t faced challenges. I began this journey completely on my own. One day, I simply decided that if I didn’t take the first step, no one else would take it for me.
I don’t have industry connections through family, and no one handed me opportunities—I had to create them. I started by reaching out to photographers, organizing my own shoots, and slowly building my portfolio. I created my own network from scratch, because in this industry, everything runs on connections.
That’s how I began getting small roles—first as an extra, then in student short films, and eventually in feature films. I’ve done countless unpaid gigs, and honestly, I still do. But I’m not ashamed of that. Every one of those experiences helped me meet people, make new connections, and grow.
This path takes sacrifice in the beginning, but it builds the foundation for long-term success. I don’t consider myself at the peak of my career yet, but I know I’ll get there. It’s all a process of small steps, taken consistently, without stopping. And I’m proud of every single step I’ve taken so far—that’s how I see it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend or family member came to visit me in L.A. for some days, where would I take them?
That’s a great question—and honestly, I already have a list ready because there are so many places I love here!
Since moving to L.A. three years ago, one of my favorite spots has been the Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo. I’d definitely take them there first—it’s such a fun and unique place. Visiting Japan has always been one of my dream trips, and this area gives me a small taste of that vibe. After walking around, we’d grab a bite at my two go-to spots: Two Hands Corndogs and Millet Crepe. Everyone needs to try the full cheese corn dogs there—and their matcha crepe (or really, any crepe) is amazing!
Next, we’d hit some museums. I’d start with The Broad, and then take them to my absolute favorite—The Getty Center Museum. The art, the architecture, and the view up there are just stunning.
Of course, I’d also invite them to see a live theater play—because there’s something really special about the theater scene in L.A. After that, we’d go thrifting together. It’s one of my favorite activities—I love exploring styles and putting together fun looks.
Then, of course, we’d check out some of the iconic spots: the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Griffith Observatory to catch the sunset with that incredible view of the city and the Hollywood sign. It’s the perfect “City of Stars” moment.
To wrap up the day, we’d go out for dinner—probably to Petit Trois for some French food. I’d even make them try escargots!
There’s just so much diversity and variety in L.A., and that’s exactly why I love this city so much.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There’s a long list of people I could shout out, but I’ll start with the one who’s been by my side from the very beginning: my mother Ruth. She has always supported me and is my biggest inspiration as a woman. She’s sacrificed so much to give me a better future—even moving to a whole new country so I could pursue my passion for the arts. She’s been there to cheer me on, celebrate every step I’ve taken, and lift me up through it all. She deserves all the recognition in the world.
My father Edisson, too, has always been a source of strength and support. Even from a distance—from one country to another—he continues to believe in me, reminding me to never give up and always give my best. So a huge shoutout to him as well.
Outside of my family, I want to acknowledge the many incredible people who’ve been part of my journey. In particular, I want to thank someone I consider both a friend and mentor. Yolanda Ruiz is a talented and inspirational woman who has taught me so much and helped me explore new dimensions of my creativity through our work together.
And last but not least, a heartfelt thank-you to everyone I’ve collaborated with—and continue to create art with. Each of you has played a part in shaping my path, and I’m truly grateful.
