We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand is prayer. In the place of prayer I have and continually discover my true identity. Of course, that encompasses many facets. However, for the sake of this interview I will elaborate on my entrepreneurial essence. I threw around the idea of owning a business for many years. I even embarked on several entrepreneurial journeys, but progress and success only came after I implemented prayer. Proverbs 16:3 reads, “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” This is my testimony! Prayer revealed that owning a business was a God-given desire. So, I surrendered my business plans through prayer. In response, God daily perfects them and kindly accompanies me as I carry them out.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I got where I am professionally through prayer and persistence. I cannot say my process has been easy but most certainly rewarding. I honestly overcame the challenges by resolving to keep going. I have learned that you have celebrate yourself as much as you critique yourself. I have learned some progress is progress. I want the the world to know my brand thrives off of and extends the love of God!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Honestly, I would take them a little ways away. I would take them to the Bay Area. I would take them for a walk around Lake Merritt In Oakland. We would eat at Wally’s which is an amazing Mediterranean restaurant in Emeryville. We would catch the B.A.R.T to San Francisco and shop in the downtown area.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God and my tribe are who I want to dedicate my shoutout to! They all contribute significantly to who I am. They are my Saviour, my family, spiritual mentors and siblings. Their love and encouragement keeps me going!
I also want to give a special shoutout to my girl Tunai Anderson (IG: @tunaiscloset) who kindly suggested me for the opportunity.
