We had the good fortune of connecting with Vanessa Zabari and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vanessa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I actually wasnt thinking about starting a dance company at the time. My friend and mentor, Angela Harris, spoke life into and encouraged me to start the first professional tap company in Atlanta. After hearing how much she believed in me, I knew I could do it. I always dreamed of having a professional tap company that traveled internationally. I’m so happy and blessed to see my dreams coming true.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Hello. My name is Vanessa Zabari, true entrepreneur and creative leader at heart. What sets me apart from others is I’m a versatile dancer and choreographer. I’m most proud of myself for overcoming obstacles and starting the first professional tap company in Atlanta, The Tap Rebels. I got to where I am today with my faith in God, hard work and never giving up especially when it gets tough. No it was not easy, but it was worth it. Every challenge and obstacle brought me to the next goal. The things that sometime seem like they are not working are actually falling into place. The most important lesson I learned is never stop pushing towards your goals. It will happen just not on your time. I want the world to know that I love everything about the art of dance. I have worked in the dance industry for over 20 years. I want to continue to make students and people aware of how amazing the art of tap dance is. I will continue to bring it back every chance I can.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If its a long week and I want to take my bestie to have a fullfilling weekend: We are climbing stone mountain and when we get to the top we can do some grounding and meditation. Then we are going to grab some food at our fav restaurant, Pappadeaux’s. After that we can head to Atlanta Beltline and enjoy the vibes there! We can end that day by going to a caribbean event or party and release! We love to eat out and just enjoy ATL!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God is my foundation and I owe all my praises to him. Of course Angela Harris of Dance Canvas, for believing in me.
