Meet Varie Divine | Realtor – A&R – Business Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Varie Divine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Varie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always taken a keen interest in the arts. Whether it was music, performance, or visual art, I was curious about them all. Starting a career in music was second nature. I come from a lineage of music industry professionals. My grandparents were famous singers in the ’50s, a group called The M&M’s and the Peanuts. My father & mother were both popular underground artists in the ’90s & the early 2000s. I have a passion for independent artists. I noticed the lack of business structure and artist development that many independents had. I saw a need and felt that I should fill it with my knowledge, creativity, and expertise. As an A&R and business manager I strive to provide structured education and guidance to artists, so they have everything needed to succeed in the industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Varie Robinson aka Varie Divine. I am a commercial real estate agent and I am the owner of an A&R and Artist Development Agency called Divine Intervention Artistries.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for many years. I have a background in production & marketing. I got my start professionally by serving. I worked for many different churches, organizations, and establishments in the Antelope Valley. I started off as a photographer, videographer, and graphic designer revamping businesses and later independent artists. I was self-taught and used my gifts to make a living and to support myself.
It was not an easy start, I worked in retail for a total of 5 years as a sales associate and then an assistant stock coordinator. I was bored and unfulfilled with typical 9-5 jobs so I pursued my own business in 2017. I overcame the challenges I was faced with, by advancing my education, pursuing what my heart desired, and changing the circle of people that surrounded me.
While building my business, I became a marketing coordinator working in an office environment for 2 years. I developed the position myself and here was where most of my business savvy was obtained. I also started attending the Los Angeles Film School in 2020 to obtain my bachelor’s degree in entertainment business. I’ll be graduating in September of 2023! I left my job as a marketing coordinator to further pursue my business and in November 2021 Divine Intervention Artistries was legally established. Shortly after I obtained my real estate license.
I learned a lot in those years. I learned how to carry myself as a business professional. I learned that the people you surround yourself with really do have an impact on the decisions you’ll make personally and professionally. I learned to create boundaries for my own well-being. I learned to take my time, structure, plan, and strategize. I learned to be timely, where I was always late. I learned to obtain knowledge because once I obtain it, it can never be taken away from me. In the words of my business mentor Marshall Keyes, I learned that everything is “Figureoutable”. Most importantly I learned to pray for wisdom instead of material things.
Today, Divine Intervention Artistries continues to grow. I am currently interning for Zoë Young and working alongside other well-known artists in music. I strive to make the worlds of music and real estate speak and flow with one another with future plans of establishing housing for struggling artists.
D.I.A.’s vision is of a world where talent can exist and extend past limitations. By providing structured education and guidance to artists, creatives will be given everything needed to succeed in the industry. As an agency, we believe that an attitude of servitude cultivates collaborative communities that utilize education & guidance to produce authenticity & enlightenment. We provide genuine support to the independents that we represent, professionally preparing them for a career in music.
I am most proud of our non-profit subsidiary ‘The Artists’ Connection’. The Artists’ Connection is a vehicle that D.I.A. uses to bridge the gap between the entertainment industry & communities. This educational networking industry event was designed to educate and enhance artist presentation by focusing on Branding, Performance, Professional Development, and Genuine Support. We recently had 2 events; both of which were panel discussions on artist development. The Artists’ Connection: PRIDE Edition in June was a panel and performance event and The Artists’ Connection: Webinar in July, we had the honor of having Zoë Young Music Executive, keynote our webinar. We also had the award-winning poet and actor Sean Hill as a special guest. Along with many other speakers, we discussed different aspects of artist development. Both events were successful & we discovered a demand for them!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really love the Wat Thai Temple street vendors on the weekends. I love a good spa day! One of my favorite spots currently is Beverly Hot Springs.
I enjoy brunches and day drinking, Maderas Kitchen is a good place for that, and Mamas Shelter (Rooftop). Across from that is the Highlight Lounge, another great brunch spot.
The Grammy Museum is always a great place to visit and the Last Bookstore because we love books!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to shout out my mother, Chris Martinez. She’s been my biggest supporter. My brother Dezario Gordon & our late brother Trifon Penniman may he rest in peace. I’d like to shout out my music team JCReppin’ owned by my good friend and business partner YB Terrion. My very good friends Jordyn Brown, Community Solutions Provider, and Ashley Khan Creative Director both also work with me at my agency Divine Intervention Artistries. Lastly, my former boss and business coach Marshall Keyes.
