We had the good fortune of connecting with Vera Myers and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vera, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
I think people should never give up. If you started something you probably loved it enough to start. Rome wasn’t built in a day, nothing happens over night. You need to have faith and go through difficulties with grace because if it’s getting hard that means you are growing and moving forward.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actress and model so professionally it’s a tall order in general because of how competitive the industry is. I think being genuine, kind, hardworking person and being able to take direction is what I go by. It’s just always been my thing and I appreciate it in others. Staying positive, grateful and open to constructive criticism is what got me where I am today professionally. Of course, nothing comes easy you have to put in work and earn it no matter what your career path is. I’ve learned one thing that you have to be patient with yourself and give yourself a pat on the back sometimes and say – “hey you are doing great! & you are exactly where you need to be”. Currently I am also building my brand as a female entrepreneur and I’ve learned that there will be obstacles to conquer along the way so just keep your head high and be respectful to others.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, we would wake up and grab coffee & breakfast at Blue Bottle Coffee that has #bestoatmilklattes haha. Then we would probably hit the beach. I love El Matador with its gorgeous scenery and views. The awesome thing about California is that you are so close to everything. One day you can be at the beach, next day in the mountains, next day the desert. My other favorite place is Big Bear! It reminds me of my hometown. It’s high in the mountains with a beautiful lake to go swim and boating, lovely hiking trails & I just LOVE having picnics and vegan bbq outdoors! I’m a proud animals rights activist so I’d most definitely take my friend to a local farm!! We would volunteer and help feed, take care of the animals. Good food makes me happy so we would definitely check out some of my favorite vegan spots such as Sugar Taco! Yum! Also one my fav activities is exploring & learning different parts of LA with all of its diversity and culture: K-Town, WeHo, Chinatown, Glendale, Little Tokyo, Studio City.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family of course. I have the undying love and support of my husband and my mother who both push me everyday to be the best version of myself. I also look up to other strong women entrepreneurs who are changing the landscape of creators and influencers daily.
