We had the good fortune of connecting with Versell “VERSEatyle” Motley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Versell “VERSEatyle”, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Some of the goals I’d like to achieve by the end of the my career are a number of accolades, such as mentoring a potential group of talented proteges towards their artistic careers, inspire my family, friends, and loved ones to pursue any dream or goal they want to achieve on the largest scale possible for each of them individually, gain the experience with becoming a voice actor for a video game or animated series, provide knowledge and guidance for future artists whether it requires me to create an independent record label or not, create a close knit team and artistic production family, uplift san diego’s cultural scene internationally, continue to provide independent programs for food for homeless and hungry, and to reach wealthy financial stability to provide for as much of my family’s generations to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The biggest attribute that sets me apart from other artists is that I’m one of the few rap/producing artists that can perform popping & breakdancing professionally without the need of practice. It took me years of long practice with trial and error to acquire my talents and reach a high caliber of skill within them, and it definitely was not easy at all.

Some of my main conflicts on my come up to where I am now would be the lack of knowledge about marketing a brand, maneuvering through growing pains, and budgeting while undergoing financial hardships throughout the whole journey. In the beginning, when I started music, I was always under the impression that if you work hard and excellent at what you do, opportunities and people will gravitate towards you. However, learning over time, I adapted that you have to not only be great at what you do, but you have to advertise and portray yourself in strategic manners that will get a proper reaction going for future engagement involving new people for one’s brand, company, or product. In addition with this knowledge, it was difficult to properly invest in myself with a proper budget due to personal income and financial obligations still in the picture. Now with the situations that I have evolved from and worked hard to execute the best possible outcome, I can definitely say that “the joy is within the journey”.

I would want the world to know about my me, my brand, and story, is that I’m no different from anyone reading this article. I fear, I laugh, I hope, I breathe, I live. Just like you. I’ve learned that everyone in this world is just trying to “get by” in one way or another whether it be finding their next meal, to recovering from mental issues, to just being able to have some type of love in their life. Continue it is whatever you do, be patient, stay content, help others in need, have faith, and give love. Always.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In Los Angeles county there are a vast amount of areas and activities to attend depending on what a friend would be interested in doing. For example if someone were to recommend looking for somewhere that represents Los Angeles food wise I would definitely direct them to Central Los Angeles, Downtown LA, or East LA for authentic foods of the city to try out. All the lively activities such as bars, clubs, events, and everything around that- Los Angeles is one of the many places in the country to visit. Aside from the city of LA, I personally love Long Beach and their vibe that represents the county as a whole as well. All demographics from young to old, Long Beach is also a “melting pot” city with many diversities and different types of people, but all come together which makes the city within the county- a great one as well. From beaches to bars, shops, restaurants, and site seeing, I highly recommend any friend to visit the whole county of Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For this article in particular I’d like to make a special shout out to all the current brands that I have partnerships with, they all have trusted me with representing their products and we all have been progressing very well together on a business scale. Some of these companies are: Hypest Fit, Soulsfeng, Fitville, Okiyefa Shades, Nevwear Studio, Canna Xpress, Bargain Brothers Thrift, and much more!
