We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Casciola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my passion, which is driven by inspiration and consistency. Making people look good to feel better holds me accountable.
Changing one head at a time by having every client leave feeling like a better version of themselves serves my purpose!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my passion and commitment. Especially early on in my career I never said no! I wanted to expand my wings and learn everything. As a Las Vegas native, i began my love affair with hair at the early age of 10. I earned my cosmetology license before graduating high school, and became one of the most sought after hairstylist at a very young age.
That is when I began getting a lot of back lash for being so young in the industry wanting to do it all .
I like to call myself the transformer! A well rounded Hairstylist.
Many people ask what my specialty is but to be honest I make sure I Master everything there is to know about my craft . That way I am able to not miss out on any opportunity in the beauty world.. I LOVE it all !
My papa always said there is no growth in your comfort zone and no comfort in your growth zone. That said alone is where my growth begins !
Pushing the limits and having various skills under my belt is what has gotten me where I am today . It wasn’t easy but nothing good or great comes easy!
I have been changing the hair game, one head at a time, ever since.
I call myself the HairGypsy! I always preach “if we were meant to stay in one place doing the same thing i would have roots instead of feet!”
I have floated effortlessly from behind the chair to the runway and beyond for the last 20 years. Dividing my time between Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Florida, and internationally.
A Celebrity Hairstylist , global artistic director for Hairtalk extensions, platform artist, senior master educator, and product development are a few of the roles I play In this forever growing beauty industry .
When I am not behind the chair I create magic with some Of my favorite celebrities such as Jordan Knight, Paula Abdul, Mercedes Javid, Bella Hadid, Anne Winters, Antonio Sabato Jr., Josie Conseco , Naomi Grossman, Katherine Narducci to name a few.
What I am most called upon is my transformational talent and beauty expertise for events such as Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Oscars, Golden Globes, Grammys, SAG awards, New York Fashion week, Paris fashion week, and Milan fashion week.
My other hidden secrets, beauty and inspirational tips grace the pages of publications including W magazine New Beauty, Real Simple, People , Brides,Vogue,Modern Salon, More Magazine, Beauty Launchpad, InStyle.
I have Always been inspired by other stylists, and believe a successful hairstylist and educator must constantly grow and forever be open to learning!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My friends call me sunshine because I rise with the sun, I live for the day and it starts with a 1 oz n’espresso!! Then …….. I would Suggest we start the day with an endorphin rush of a high paced hike in Griffith Park and or Runyon Canyon ! The mountain & city views give me the surge & focus for the day. La is my canvas to inspire and be inspired.
After a hike, we nurish ourselves with a secret hole in the wall a place only open half day called, QUALITY.
Another alternative spot I Absolutely love is Hugo’s ! It serves breakfast lunch and dinner ! So what ever you are in the mood for it has ! Some of the best dishes with vegan and gluten free options !
Then We would head to the fashion district in DTLA and scour the streets unique fashion finds. Everyone can put on clothes but I believe its the details in your styling and accessories that set you apart from mainstream Hype ! You can find so many unique gems ! I love the streets of DTLA because there are so many delicious homemade food vendors and coffee shops!
One of my favorite coffee shops is blue bottle !perfect spot to refuel before we hit the next stop !
Next stop is museums like MOCA to snap shots for content!
Now that we have a spring in our step with our fashion finds and a little spent from an afternoon of adventure we sink into a tesla and shuttle to the westside.
We sliver into the valet at my favospot to be bougie, the Polo Lounge at the beverly hills hotel for a cocktail & a nosh, take some “influencer” photos by the pool with the most chic awnings. Grab a souvenir from their gift shop to remember the day. Our tesla proceeds to GETTY center off the 405 and a quick stopping point to stay inspired by art and modern clean open air spaces. We never stay in one place too long, but I document it all so I have something special to look back on at the end of each day. Sometimes I feel like life is so fast paced that if it weren’t for my camera, I wouldn’t have anything to show for the days. That’s why photos, videos , and journals are my most prized possession. The coolest way to end the day is at the beach on Venice board walk. This is where the most eccentric, free spirits resign.. and we can watch a sunset.
Dinner will be a booking on Abbot Kinney at Piccolo Ristorante for some delicious Italian cuisine !!
Finishing up the night by an after dinner stroll through the canals!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a huge shout out to my parents ! They recognized my talent or as they say ( gift ) at the early age of 5 ! They knew I had something special because I always made people look good to Feel better .I was cranking out hairstyles on family and friends all the time, no matter where we were . Could be at dinner, movies family gatherings and last but not least school . It never got old hearing ( this isn’t beauty school ) look at me now LOL !
By age ten I had scissors in my hand and started coloring hair ! It was my form of art from the heart .
