We had the good fortune of connecting with Victory Omotayo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victory, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Entrepreneurship wasn’t always the plan for me. It was out of necessity as even after graduating with a bachelors degree, I was grossly underpaid at my jobs. I had to turn to side hustles to make ends meet and initially thought I would be a “forever side hustler” until I was let go from my job in 2019. This could not have happened at the worst year as I was planning a wedding, I had just bought a property the year before and I was moving countries. But even without a source of income from a job, I was able to pay for my wedding cash, move countries without a hitch and it was all thanks to the money from my side hustles. This was the moment things shifted for me and I wanted to help other women experience this same level of freedom that I had inadvertently created for myself. So, I launched my coaching business in 2020 helping other women tap into their expertise/skill to create an additional source of income outside their corporate desk. In the past 9 months alone, my clients have been able to generate over $500,000. Money that has been used to create their definition of freedom, whether it’s the ability to leave their 9-5 behind, being able to buy their first property, increased savings, and so much more!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business was designed with one intention in mind, which also translates into how I teach and what sets me apart from others. My business was designed to demystify entrepreneurship as a means of propelling women forward into business ownership. So, with everything I teach, I am focused on removing all the noise from others in the industry and showing my clients a simple, yet effective way to achieve their desired results. All my strategies are low effort-high converting.

Getting to where I am today, business wise, was not easy. I always assigned myself as a “professional side hustler” because I always had something running in addition to a full-time job. However, I was also a quitter. When things got tough, I would be the first to give up and jump to another business idea. Being able to take this business from $0 to multi six-figures in less than a year was truly a testament to my mission to remain consistent, even in the face of hardship. I overcame my need to always start something by assigning myself to only doing ONE thing for 12 months. This was my challenge to myself. There were times when I dipped into the “oooh, let me try starting this business”, but I always came back to the challenge I had set for myself.

What I want the world to know is that all you have to do is believe in yourself and be willing to stick through it. Even if your family and friends roll their eyes at “yet another business”, if you believe she’s the one, go for it and put your all in it!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m not directly in the LA area so I’m not sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely want to dedicate it to my clients for trusting and believing in me to lead them. I also want to shoutout my husband for always being there and championing me on. For being my therapist, even though he didn’t ask to be assigned the role. I want to shoutout my parents for telling me that I can be whoever I wanted to be in life.
