Meet Viridiana Marquez | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Viridiana Marquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viridiana, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
This is something that I’ve thought about all my life, especially when I decided to pursue acting as my career. The entertainment industry is not easy to get into and it’s very competitive. That is something I had to understand and accept before deciding to take the leap. I know that acting is my biggest passion in life and I can’t see myself doing anything else. That’s what drives me. I have one life and if I don’t try to go after what I love, how will I ever know what can be possible? If I wasn’t at least trying, I know I would regret it for the rest of my life. The what if? That’s why I won’t give up. If I quit tomorrow, maybe my life was going to change in a week. You know what I mean? You never know. I’ll continue to pursue my passion for as long as I can, no matter the obstacles along the way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an actor from the suburbs of Chicago. I’ve wanted to do acting for as long as I can remember. I have films like Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars to thank for helping me discover this passion for acting and film from a young age. I did a lot of theater and plays in high school. After graduating from college for acting, I began to audition and work in short films. I got to experience being on a real big set with some background acting gigs on shows in Chicago that I loved so much. I’ve been in LA for three years now and I’ve gotten to be apart of some awesome short films like, “Fidelidad”, “Froggy”, and “Serenity”. I’ve attended some film festivals for my films including the Mammoth Film Festival and LA Shorts International Film Festival. Recently I co-wrote a short horror film called “Enigma”. We shot it last month and it was an amazing learning experience. I executive-produced and starred in the film. I am so proud of what my team accomplished and can’t wait to share it with the world! It was my first time creating something like this and I am excited to make more films. I continue to audition as much as I can and am always ready and excited for what’s next in my career.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take my bestie to some of my favorite bars and restaurants in the Silverlake and Los Feliz area. They have some amazing spots that I love to go to with friends. I love The Black Cat and All Time restaurants. I’m Mexican so I would of course also take them to some awesome Mexican food spots in Boyle Heights and East LA. I love Tenampal, Milpa Kitchen and all the amazing street taco stands! East LA has so many cool spots it’s an essential place for me. I love In N Out we’re going a few times for sure! I love theme parks so we would definitely have to take a trip to Disneyland and Universal Studios. We would have to visit the Santa Monica Pier and go to the beach as well. Do all the touristy stuff cause why not? There’s so many places I can’t mention them all. We would have a fun time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family are my biggest supporters. I am so grateful to my mom, dad, brother and sister for always being with me and supporting my dreams. My dad drove me from Chicago to LA so I could move here. I had always wanted to move to LA to pursue acting. His support and sacrifices have meant the world to me. My mom always encourages me and is proud of everything I’ve done, no matter how small. My brother and sister always give me that push I need to keep going. They are big fans of film and I know can’t wait to see me in something big. Their love is all I need to believe in myself. I wouldn’t be here without them.
