Meet Viviana Sarmiento | Culinary Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Viviana Sarmiento and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Viviana, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Thank you for having me and what you guys do definitely contributes to the success of small businesses. I would say the key points for me are:
-Staying true to myself. -Being aware that I’m enjoying this process, even during the hard moments.
-Creating products and flavors that I love and would personally buy if someone else was making them.
-Being in love with my craft, if I’m not directly working on my company you can always find me in the kitchen making some kind of experiment.
-Being proud of what I’m creating.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
There’s plenty of nut butters and granolas out there and what really makes a difference with ours is the soul behind the brand. We are all unique in this world, and so it’s our brand. I create and execute most of the business part, from the conception of the product, recipe development , flavor profile (ok, my husband plays a big role here), branding, marketing strategy, sales. And I’ve learned to delegate the tasks I’m not good at or don’t enjoy to people who do. The Kind Dessert represents a life full of joy, wellness and balance through 100% clean and nutritious snacks.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For sure we will be having an amazing brunch at True Food Kitchen, which is one of the most reliable restaurants since they don’t use seed oils to cook with and the food is always great. Then we would go to a Farmers market which I will always be grateful they exist, they are an important incubator for many brands and you will always find farmers’ treasures. The Highland Park Bowl would be the next step, it’s a must in LA, it was established in 1927. Originated during the midst of prohibition, and the building housed numerous doctors’ offices on the second floor, a pharmacy, music store, and recreation space. The vibe is pretty cool, you can have some pizza and bowl all night long. Also one of my favorite stores that carries the best local goodies is Farmshop located between Brentwood and Santa Monica.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My husband. He has been a witness of my entire process. When I moved out of my parents’ home I didn’t even know how to cook rice. His support means the world to me. The certainty he has about the company fills my heart and brain with energy and new ideas every time. Also, in his personal journey I’ve been able to recognize when someone is madly in love with their craft. He is an actor, an incredible one. I don’t even watch many of his work because it’s mostly drama and very intense characters that I prefer to stay with the version I have at home, the way he acts it’s surreal check his IG @andreslondono.g
