Meet VIXEN LA

We had the good fortune of connecting with VIXEN LA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VIXEN LA, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Choosing a path of a fashion designer, especially a store owner involves a certain level of risk. Fashion is inherently about pushing boundaries, innovating, and staying ahead of trends, while trying to hit sales quota.
After graduating college my budget for a collection was very low, so my first collection had to be very small. The first big risk meant experimenting with unconventional patterns, and bold color combinations to make this small collection stand out. This was a risk because there was a chance that the designs wouldn’t resonate with customers. However the designs I questioned most surprisingly ended up being the best sellers.
On the business side, risk-taking involves decisions like investing in a new marketing strategy, which carries potential financial risks. When I first launched I lost some profits because I was spending a lot on ads. However, it allowed me to realize that the best way to connect with customers in a more personal way and showcase my designs in a space that reflected my brand’s identity was to throw budget friendly community events!
Taking risks has played a pivotal role in my career, each risk I’ve taken has taught me valuable lessons, whether through success or failure, and has contributed to my growth as a designer and entrepreneur.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a fashion designer, my work is all about blending sensuality with contemporary glam. What sets VIXEN LA apart is our commitment to sustainability and innovation in our provocative styles. We prioritize ethical production practices, and create designs that are adaptable from day to night.
VIXEN LA is excited about hosting more community events that provide a platform for our customers, collaborators, and local artists to interact, share ideas, and celebrate creativity. We hope to host a variety of gatherings, from intimate fashion shows and exclusive parties!
My journey to where I am today was far from easy, it involved a lot of failures. One of the biggest challenges was preparing financially to run a brand. I am still overcoming this, I focus on continuous learning and adapting, seeking feedback from mentors and customers, and never losing sight of my passion for design.
Throughout this journey, I’ve learned several lessons. First, resilience is crucial. The fashion industry is competitive, and it’s important to stay determined even in the face of setbacks. Second, authenticity matters. Staying true to your vision attracts loyal customers who believe in your brand. Lastly, collaboration is essential for fostering relationships within the industry that can open doors to new opportunities.
What I want the world to know about my brand is that we are dedicated to creating fashion that makes a statement. Our pieces are designed to make head turns, to unleash your inner IT GIRL, celebrate diversity, and promote sustainability. I hope it inspires others to pursue their dreams relentlessly and make a difference through their work. Thank you for the opportunity to share my journey and vision with you

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To start the day off I would take my friend to 6xs Coffee in KTown for their Mello drink, then head over to Little Tokyo Village where we can shop at local stores that sell many items from Japan! For dinner I would take my friend over to Donna’s in Silver Lake in my opinion the best Italian restaurant in LA!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
