We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaelin Phillips and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaelin, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our main focus is on improving the creative consciousness We do this by providing opportunities, & resources to independent creatives of all mediums
Our proudest achievement so far is paying out over $10,000 to creatives- through bookings, commissions, merch sales & more.
Our secondary ( but equally important) goal, is to combat Detrimental Ethical And Environmental Consequences the Fast Fashion Industry Has created.
No Rivals sets to combat this with reworked vintage pieces & garments made with upcycled & recycled materials for each order individually.
Eliminating waste & giving life to forgotten items & materials
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
No Rivals started with a desire to better the creation process of & ideas being spread through the platform.
From clothing, it has since branched into the music industry, through our record label, & “creative oasis” dedicated to providing resources & opportunities to all independent creatives.
Nothing worth doing is ever easy, but when you are truly aligned with your purpose you’ll find that things tend to fall your way.
The biggest lesson I can share at the moment- you have to start, it doesn’t have to be perfect, but you have to start.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My version of fun is heavily based on execution, so I would spend the week with the friend (probably a fellow creative) working on creative business endeavors, we are in the mecca of creation after all!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I could never have accomplished anything without the incredible community of creatives & business mentors who have guided me along the way.
Specifically in the LA area to Ty Stephano Atelier, a boutique/design house downtown that has opened its doors to become a hub of creative connections & creations.
