Meet Wasim Hajjiri | Forbes Published Executive Career Coach& 2-time #1 Best Selling Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wasim Hajjiri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wasim, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I was always inspired by my father, who is a self-made entrepreneur. He built his own company from scratch and came from very humble beginnings. He provided a great life for my 8 siblings and me. My journey started in 2013, I moved to the US as a fresh engineering graduate and started my journey to find a job. My dream job then was to work for Qualcomm, one of the best telecom companies in the world. Every iPhone in the world has a Qualcomm snapdragon chip.
My job search journey was rough and filled with many rejections and failures, but within 6 months, I was able to land a job at Qualcomm. I learned a lot from my experience. In 2015 I started the MBA program at UCSD because I wanted to gain business experience in addition to engineering. I woke up one day with an idea: How can I help other engineers land jobs? I can create a product or a service. Based on my own experience, I have many strategies to share in order to help others.
I started joining entreprenureship programs in order to learn and dug into market research and realized that there is a big market need for this, and many people need help.
70% of people are unhappy with their jobs, and 80% of graduates don’t have a job lined up upon graduation.
I got to work and started building my career coaching business in addition to writing my first book, which outlines my story of moving from Jordan to the US. I was accepted into an incubator in 2017, and that’s when everything started to take off. I leveraged all of the business resources at UCSD, which tremendously helped me.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Was it easy to do all of this?
The journey of starting and maintaining a successful business is not easy at all. There have been so many rejections, failures, doubts, fears; you name it; it’s a roller coaster ride. You also enter different phases in the business; scaling and growth requires innovation, and you need to change and adapt constantly.
Overcoming challenges comes down to three things: Learn from the best, build a strong mindset and have a solid team. I learned that you need to develop a warrior mentality to deal with the negatives and not let things take you down. The right team will help you push through any challenge as well. You don’t need to re-invent the wheel, if you need to write a book, find someone who has done it successfully and learn what they did.
Another big thing is to have a solid mission and purpose behind what you are doing. We have a big mission to serve people and positvely impact their lives and their families by having a fulfilling and happy career. Because when the hard times come, your purpose will keep you motivated to not give up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
