We had the good fortune of connecting with Joy Bosley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Joy, what do you want your legacy to be?
The one thing I want my legacy to be based on is helping others by mentoring aspiring models. I have been modeling for over a decade and I understand all the challenges that come along with modeling. I have always been that model in the room to step up and help others during fashion shows, photoshoots and even traveling plans. Many people in the business of entertainment really enjoy highlighting themselves but I enjoy seeing other people win.
We are all on a journey to pursue one goal and that’s what makes us united as a family. The industry itself can become a dangerous place without the right people in your corner and that’s the change I am attempting to make. I strive to look out for my model sisters and keep in contact with those I have worked closely with. We are very supportive of each other, and we all relate to the challenges in the world of fashion.
The world is full of negativity, and I stand on promoting a positive lifestyle. I hope to influence others in not conforming to the negative ways of the world but to help each person find joy. I feel it is my life purpose to promote wellness, positivity and show others the impact of not giving up!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Getting to a professional level was not easy in my personal journey. Every journey has its ups and downs, but I feel that it has been the difficult trails that have prepared me for the level I am at. The one thing I am most excited about is the many opportunities that have come into my life during my time in LA. I have been so busy since I touched down and started networking with other people in the industry here.
I am a creative person and the passion to create is something that is inside of you. It is a spiritual gift that takes a lot of work and dedication to follow through. The way I have overcome challenges is to take breaks and focus on my personal priorities. I also do my best to prioritize all the work that goes into leading a creative career. Sometimes that may mean missing an opportunity and that is fine. It is all about keeping a positive mind set and staying in tune with who you are. Also, I understand that not every opportunity is meant for me and taking my time to focus on the ones that are. I want the world to know that Joy isn’t just my name but it’s a way of life. All talented individuals find joy in their journey of creating. Whether its music, modeling, acting, fitness, film or print we all follow our own path that helps us find purpose. I have learned that being a model means that you are a role model to others. The way you carry yourself impacts the entire world which is why I strive to create a positive influence in helping others along the way.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I wouldn’t know where to begin the city of LA is always full of life. There is so much to do and always so much going on. The events are endless so it really all depends on who will be at what spot.
Monday -Beach trip all of the beaches are so nice,
Tuesday- CIE Magazine always has events for models
Wednesday- Day Cruise, Spa Day
Thursday – Club scene I know plenty of clubs that we would get the very best VIP treatment.
Friday -Nirvana studios in Hollywood every first Friday they have a model mixer which is amazing!
Saturday – Yacht Party some of the people I know always have some type of yacht party on the weekend.
Sunday- Brunch a lot of places throw social brunch gatherings.
I really couldn’t be more specific things are always changing and depending on what VIP invites we get it could be literally anywhere. I have only been in Cali a year and there is still so much to explore.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Through my modeling career I have not had much support and many things I have done independently. The people that have played a role in my career are
The North Alabama Photography Meet and Greet
-They are doing amazing by giving creative models and photographers a safe place to work on their craft. I found them on Facebook one day and decided to investigate the event. When I arrived to find it was an amazing organization. JJ Maccramon and Thomas Neal do their best to keep everything safe for those who attend. They really care about the people who attend their events. They have provided me with so much content to continue modeling and for that I am thankful.
The Royal Umbrella
-The director of a fashion show approached me one day and put me in all of his fashion shows. I learned so much from working with Mr. Nate Williams. He showed me how to market my content and helped me become better at networking.
-My personal stylist Ms. Keema Hawkins who has been by me in all of my events over the past year. She knows exactly what I need to wear and what looks best on me. I can’t express enough gratitude to her for always coming through. During my travels for NYFW she had someone personally fly my clothes to me to make sure that I had everything I needed, and she is always picking the best wardrobes for my events in LA.
AMP Events LA
-Mr. DeLeon and DJ Spot for the opportunity to organize my first fashion show during The Dragonia Music Festival 5280 E Washington Blvd, Commerce, California on October 15th 2022.
