Meet Wayhome | Music Producer/Visual Creator/Mixing Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wayhome and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wayhome, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m from Taiwan, a country that really embraces and welcomes different cultures. Growing up, I was fortunate to be in an educational environment that exposed me to all kinds of experiences, which helped me stay open-minded and always willing to try new things—even if they’re unfamiliar or challenging.
Because of that, I got involved in organizing a music festival, where I learned how to plan events and better understood the dynamic between artists and organizers.
I also worked as a recording assistant and production assistant with a band, which gave me hands-on experience in music production and how the industry works.
Later on, I started creating my own music. Inspired by the artists I admire, I began exploring both music and video production at the same time. It was a challenging path, but one that taught me a lot and really expanded how I see music creation.
Then in 2023, I decided to take a big step—leaving my home country to come to the U.S.—so I could further improve my skills, work in a completely new environment, and learn from collaborating with people from different backgrounds.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A few years ago, I discovered the artist DPR IAN, a singer-songwriter who also directs his own music videos. His work deeply inspired me and sparked my imagination about the connection between visuals and music. That inspiration led me to start learning video production and experimenting with ways to merge the two art forms in my own unique style.
It wasn’t an easy journey—especially because I had no one to guide me. I had to learn and explore everything on my own. Thankfully, with resources like YouTube, it’s become much easier to access knowledge and figure things out step by step. This experience really proved the saying true: “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
I’m also very grateful to my friends, who always encouraged me to try new things. That support helped shape my mindset: if something sparks my interest, I should go for it—never be afraid to explore the unknown. And through my creative work, I hope to share that same message with others: don’t be afraid.
Even when you’re alone, late at night, and your thoughts start to spiral into fear or self-doubt—know that you’re not alone. I’ve been there too. “In silence, the loudest voices speak.” But no matter how long the night may feel, the dawn always comes. So don’t give up. Be brave and take that first step.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite places near Los Angeles is Malibu. Sometimes it gets a bit too crowded, so I prefer going on weekdays around sunset. I love listening to the sound of the ocean and watching the sun go down, then staying there into the evening—it’s really peaceful.
As for food, my current favorite is a food truck near where I live on Sunset Blvd called CollegeBoy Cheesesteaks. They have the best Philly steak I’ve ever had, and the owner is incredibly friendly. Everything from the cheesesteak to the fries—is amazing.
Another favorite of mine is a food truck near LAX called BAE’S SMOKED BRISKET. They serve the best charcoal-grilled brisket I’ve had in my entire life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The band Theseus from Taiwan has undoubtedly been one of the biggest influences on my musical journey. During the four years I worked with them, I encountered a wide range of challenges that greatly broadened my perspective. It all started when guitarist XY Kao invited me to help with recording their demos. Over time, as we worked more closely together, I gradually took on more responsibilities—ranging from demo recording and music production to serving as a playback engineer, editing audio tracks, and contributing to creative planning.
If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have gained such a deep understanding of the music industry. I’m especially grateful to XY Kao, the band leader and guitarist, as well as YJ Lai, the audio engineer. They both supported me immensely and patiently taught me so much. No matter when I had questions, they were always willing to help and guide me, and thanks to their mentorship, I was able to learn a great deal and grow in the field.
