Hi Wendy, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The motivation behind launching my own business is to gain more control over my personal and everyday obligations. After spending over 25 years in the corporate world and contemplating early retirement, I’ve decided to explore my talents and see what I can build independently. Creativity has always been my forte, and I excel at coordinating and organizing any task I take on. I often plan my own birthday celebrations, and friends and followers on social media frequently ask if I work as a travel agent or if I can assist them in planning their trips and activities. After receiving countless inquiries and letting my business idea simmer for over ten years, I finally brought Myyescapades to life. Taking a leap of faith, I presented my concept to an audience from diverse backgrounds, and it was well-received, leading me to develop an Instagram page dedicated to my passion project, Myyescapades.

Myyescapades is your ultimate destination for personalized concierge services. It stands out as a unique offering, showcasing various cities and a diverse range of activities for individuals to discover. I take immense pride in launching this passion project; taking that first step to turn my vision into reality has been a significant achievement. My professional journey has been fueled by my love for exploration, creativity, and enjoyment.

I recognize that the path ahead won’t be simple, as I will need to build a dedicated team to sustain this venture across multiple locations. Establishing connections with collaborators, promoters, event coordinators, business owners, and creators will be essential for success. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Helping others can change lives, and volunteering was one of my best ways to make a difference. I benefited from the experiences gained through volunteering, particularly in areas like marketing and support for education.

Being a marketing coordinator for Relay Heroes provided valuable lessons about advertising and promotion. By creating marketing strategies and campaigns, I learned about the importance of education and how to access more opportunities. The experience gained from this role highlighted how volunteering can develop essential skills that are useful in the business world.

Support from family and friends plays an important role in achieving my goals. Their encouragement inspires my creativity and motivates me to pursue my passions. In this case, the support received helped generate ideas for my future business project called Myyescapades.

My future customers also play a crucial role in shaping my business. When they ask questions about activities or seek assistance, it encourages growth and innovation. This interaction helps in understanding their needs and preferences, paving the way for better services.

In conclusion, volunteering provides essential skills and experiences that benefit both individuals and organizations. Support from family and friends fuels creativity and ambition, while customer engagement fosters improvement and growth. All these elements work together to help me develop Myyescapades.
