We had the good fortune of connecting with Wendy-Sème Orleans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Wendy-Sème, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Art is a representation of life, and art is a place where we can truly be free. I want to spread joy to the world is the reason. People tend to seek safety in life, but the arts allow people to feel thrilled while still being safe. It is our jobs as artists to take them on a ride worth remembering.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart is that I am me, and so far, I’m proud that I’m doing it, and I’m growing with each project and every day. It’s not easy, but sometimes you have to go for it; of course, you will obstacles but what I’m learning is that filmmaking has a lot to do with problems solving and trusting your team. As an actor, now stepping behind the scene is an eye-opener, definitely helpful for my acting. I want my brand to be about truth; I want my stories to move people while still being genuine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The first place well has to go to Venice beach, It may not be the beach in LA, but it has the best vibe. I also love hiking, so we have to check out some trails; being in LA, there are so many to choose from, and it gives them a chance to view the entire city. If they are visiting once the lockdown is over, we have to check out my favorite bar, ” The Shortstop” in Echo Park, and the rest we’ll play it by ear based on what is going on.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First God, because without God, I would be lost in this world. My family; Myrlange Orleans, Nina Orleans Salvant, Johanne Orleans, Sarah Joseph, Jason Pierre. My acting studio and coach, Elaine Williams, at The Baron Brown Studio. My Professor Joni Varner at LACC.
