We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Alix Jeffries and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney Alix, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic career because I wanted to make a living doing what I love to do. When you love what you do for work, it doesn’t feel like work and that was my goal.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a multi disiplinary graphic artist that loves to paint, draw, and design artwork for textiles. Most of my work involves sketching prior to using computer applications.

I’m most proud of myself for believing in myself.

It was not easy and it still isn’t. I got a therapist to help overcome most of my challenges. Most of the challenges that come are mental blocks.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to follow my intuition.

I want the world to know that I live for my dog Mookie, hiking plants, racial justice and artisan ice cream.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day 1 – Venice Beach/ Lunch at Felix on Abbot Kinney then ice cream at Salt and Straw Day 2- Pick up Lunch from Jerusalem Chicken/ Picnic at Kenneth Hahn Park
Day3- Hike at Los Lioness Canyon/Brunch at Juicy Ladies
Day 4- Mural Tour around DTLA Art District/Lunch at Manuela’s at Hauser and Wirth
Day 5- Sound Bath at Moda Yoga
Day 6- Visit Annenberg Pet Space to play with the pups
Day 7- Day at The Arboretum in Arcadia

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to my Mother, Stephanie Jeffries, for recognizing my gifts at a young age and nurturing them. I feel very fortunate for having a parent who appreciates the arts and believed that I could make a career out of my God given talents.
